[She’s staring at the amber slice with both curiosity and awe. And because she’s touching it, all of the lovely residents of the tree can see one large lavender-hued eye and a stunning shade of red as her bangs brush the stone. If she knew everyone could see her, she probably wouldn’t be gaping at the artifact in such an unrefined fashion, or giving any potential viewers a look at her tonsils and chin while she fumbles with it. Not only is she from a world without technology, but her knowledge of anything supernatural is limited to her experiences with the dragons. In other words, it’s virtually nonexistent.

’How can a stone be used to communicate? Surely, there is more to it than touching it.’

But as soon as the thought enters her mind, she recalls the yellow gem she held earlier, resulting in wings sprouting from her back. And just moments before, she saw a flash of shifting pictures in the amber, the faces of strangers moving, talking to each other, as if she was looking into a mirror, only the person staring back at her was not herself.

Yona clears her throat, lips tightening nervously before relaxing into an uncertain smile.]

Hello there. My name is… [Scratch that!] …well, I suppose that is rather unimportant at the moment.

…Hopefully I’m not just talking to myself. I saw… people, several individuals, speaking to one another in this stone a few moments ago.

[Of course, it’s highly probable that she’s just lost her mind. Last time she checked, she was having a one-sided conversation with a stone from inside what appears to be a tree. There’s nothing sane about it.]

Then again, maybe I just imagined it.

[Wait. Did she just admit she might be crazy out loud? Yona flashes a sheepish smile, but it wanes after a moment, her expression dissolving into concern, closely followed by apprehension, and then fear.]

[There's no missing it, no mistaking. That hair, the worried tone. . . the bewilderment (definitely an opinion he had at first, as well). While far from pleased that she's now amongst all of those who have been abducted, though, Jae-Ha can't deny the relief of seeing her, in general.]

These amber pieces really are a wonder, aren't they? [a brief moment of amusement, before his expressions falls a little.] Hello, Yona.

You're not imagining it. Somehow the stone lets us talk to everyone who's here right now.

Are you looking for someone?

Hello! [ nai answers cheerfully. it seems there are even more people coming into the tree again, and though he knows that means they've been taken away from their homes, at least they're safe here. he should make sure they're not scared or anything. ]

We can talk like this, even if you're really, really far away from me. It's called an amber slice! It's pretty, right?

[ there's someone she's never seen before. riona quietly watches the girl for a few minutes. she can't tell very well, but they might be of similar age. there sure are a lot of young people coming here, now that she thinks about it. more than she's used to. ]

We're stuck here. You'll have to introduce yourself eventually.

[ that's to say, no yona you didn't imagine people talking to each other through a thin piece of glass. ]

[Her voice. He would know it anywhere. To the point that the moment he hears it over the amber, he's already moving. Getting to her as quick as possible is the priority, a month without her by his side leaving him restless and upset. It's the way that she wavers as she says his name though, knowing how out of her element she had to be feeling by that small sign alone, that pushes him even harder.

Wings emerging, Hak takes to flight and makes his way to the entry where everyone tends to arrive as quickly as he can fly. Arms reaching out for the small body, wrapping around her protectively.]

I'm here.

[You're okay. He's here. Everything will be okay.]

Hm. It is a means of communication.

[She confirms with a nod.]

Do not hesitate to speak to us.

Princess...?

[ It's her. After a month of worry and fretting he can finally see her face again- even clear with the undoubted unease she is feeling. She's safe.]

[ Also what is this why does his heart hurt, she's known Hak longer, of course it makes sense she would call for him first... ]

Princess. I am relieved to see you. [ More than he can possibly say. Hand over heart (the pain... ) he's ever respectful. ] We have been worried about you for so long. Are you all right? Are you still on the bottom floor? [ He will fly to her. ]

[An accumulation of fear, weakness, isolation has already collected on her lashes as she peers into the screen, eyes widening when she hears the charismatic voice of the green dragon, Ryokuryuu.

It brings an instantaneous rush of comfort and with it a sigh of relief.]

Jae-Ha? [Thank the Gods.] So then... you really did bring me here? Where are we?

And where are the others?

I only wish I could say I was the reason. [Truly. It would be so much easier.] We're in what's just called The Tree. The finer details aren't fully known, though. Not even who, or what, exactly is to blame for bringing us here, against our wills, from our homes.

Kija and Hak are also present. [He stops, then. The thought hits belatedly.] . . .You said you were just with us?

[A voice. Oh, it worked!

Yona blinks back the tears she can already feel sticking to her lashes and does her best to put on a bright smile.]

Ah... then it really did happen. [She's somewhat relieved that she wasn't just seeing things, but that is hardly cause for celebration.]

I am. I was looking for my companions.

[Another voice. By this time, she's wiped away any remnants of the tears and is beaming into the amber slice. It seems there are many people who are able to communicate through this stone.]

An amber slice. [She stares at it (instead of into it) thoughtfully.] It's beautiful. I just... how does it work?

[If she's surprised by the girl's abrupt words, it doesn't show. Instead, her lips curve into a kind smile.]

I apologize for my rudeness. Of course, you are right. My name is Yona. What's yours?

[Yona barely has time for the tears to form or to take in even one shaky breath as she swallows and glances around the room again. She hears him before he appears. But not him, really. It's the rush of air caused by the beating of his wings.

Her head lifts toward the sound, but that's when she finds herself in his arms and Yona cannot help but let out a choked sob as every muscle in her body relaxes against him.

Hak is... here. He didn't leave her alone. He's safe.

A moment later, her arms move around him, the bag and amber slice slipping from her grasp to the floor, and she buries her face into his chest, her breath slowing as the familiar scent eases her senses.

She was so worried. Not just because she woke up alone in a strange place. But because she woke up and had no recollection of traveling to this room, and --more importantly-- no way of knowing if he or the others were okay. Especially after the battle in Kinshuu. Hak needed rest. They all needed time to heal. So why are they here?

Swallowing, she listens to the sound of his heart beating in his chest as she collects her thoughts.]

How... are you feeling?

[It sounded preposterous to her ears. That it is possible to communicate through a stone, let alone see moving pictures of real people in it. It's unlike anything she's ever seen or heard.

She might have laughed at any other time, but it's obvious that this woman is being serious. And there is no doubt that she speaks the truth. Yona has seen it for herself first hand. ]

I see. And who is us?

[That single word, said with such concern and earnest, it brings a smile to her lips.]

Kija. [It is him. She can see his face in the amber.] Thank goodness you are okay.

[Yona nods, wiping her eyes as she does, sniffing back the remaining emotions that were visible only moments before.]

I am. Hak found me. [Her smile lengthens.] I'm so happy to see your face.

[Hak understands that everyone can come in at different times, given the fact that the other two seem to realize so much about things that haven't happened to Hak yet. He can only assume that what Yona is talking about is something similar to what they mentioned themselves.]

Was I hurt the last time you saw me as well?

[He grips the fabric at her back, demonstrating for her that he was fine. Any injury she'd assume he'd gotten back home was not active here.]

My arm is fine. It doesn't hurt at all. I heard about what happened. How's your back?

[She doesn't understand the meaning of his question or really any of his words, for that matter. Yona frowns, knowing full well that Jae-Ha's expression is far too serious to be teasing her at the moment.

What does he mean Kija and Hak are present? Of course they are. Why wouldn't they be?

She hears him, any yet there's one part in particular that overshadows everything else.]

You didn't answer my question, Jae-Ha. [There is a hint of desperation in her voice.] The others... where are they?

[Others as in the names you neglected to mention just now.]

[ He is only too glad to reassure her. ] Of course. We have taken care of ourselves so that when we would find you again, we would be at our best.

[ He actually does what he can to remain healthy. ]

Should Jae-ha and myself meet you down there, or meet you at our residence? [ That is- ] We have found lodging for during our time here.

[No, he gets it.]

Shin-Ah, Zeno, and Yun aren't in this place.

Hak? You coughin' there, kid? Get a cough drop or something.

[It is magic. Magi often spy the world through crystal balls, so she is not too surprised this exists. It is surprising they made it useful to those who do not practice magecraft.

Saber is serious and she does not need to lie when their present conversation proves her point.]

Those who, like you, were taken from their homes and brought into the tree. Our captors are not present and have not spoken to us directly.

[ and he's very happy to see that smile, so his own persists. even if she isn't looking directly at him, he replies anyway. ] I don't know. There are no amber slices at home, this is the first time I'm using it. You came from your home too? Everyone says that we were, um, kidnapped!

[ with the way she said outright she shouldn't introduce herself, riona guessed she was the suspicious type (just like she was when she first arrived), which wouldn't have been surprising at all. so the smile is unexpected, but riona answers eventually, shaking her head. ] It wasn't rude. I'm—

[ she stops, then squints. ] Yona?

[ wait. young girl, red hair...nah. that'd be too much of a coincidence. right? what was it that jae-ha called her? ] You're not... Yona-chan?
