But my life is more than a vision--
| characters | Archer, Shirou, Rin, and whoever wants to join them in their endeavor. Feel free to tag multiple headers and jump threads within them!
| date/time | Monday, May 4th, onwards through the rest of the week.
| location | Outside the tree, near the mists.
| rating | PG for now, who knows later.
| summary | A complicated series of domestic scenes unfold as Archer, Shirou, and Rin set to work building a miniature kitchen out where they can have real fire, only to be interrupted by a storm.
It's been almost three weeks since Archer and Rin arrived in the center of the tree and gained their wings, only to be met by Shirou and Saber as well. That's just about enough time for it to dawn on those who might be concerned with the domestic details of day-to-day life that they have such a thing here, in between the confusion, the struggle to organize, and the fears of more giant spiders.
Archer's highest priority might be the salvation of all the souls around him, as much as he hates it, but bit by bit a new concern creeps up on him, almost unconsciously. Every time he serves Rin a subpar, barely-cooked meal, it pains him a little deep inside where he thought he was only hollow.
He decides to act.

( rainfall: closed to shirou, illya + saber, but rin and archer are welcome to participate early)
The next morning, she watches them from afar as they peacefully collect their materials to begin working side by side without disputing (except when Rin bickers and that is fine; because it is how the magus expresses her affection). She stays a few minutes, sometimes an hour, and she moves on. They do not need her help and, if they need it, they would have asked her. She focuses on other obligations she has, meetings and arrangements to make for the long list of improvements this place needs. It surprises Saber to learn how many duties she has taken in the tree. It should not be, because they were more of them when she ruled as King.
Occasionally, she slips back to the distant King role. It is a comfortable, dignified one too after she restored her wounded pride and decided to defend her ideals. That is probably why she watches them come and go without getting too close. It feels similar to what it happened then, after she slain her uncle and was officially was enthroned. The gap grows and she is happy to see them content in their perfect picture of domestic bliss which completes once Illya joins them. She vows to protect it from interference, even hers, as she walks away.
(Part of her has retracted for good. It shrunk away, in confusion, brandished with a heavy sense of unworthiness, when Archer asked if evil of the corrupted Grail still lurked in her heart. She has been occupied earlier to notice, now it has begun to deepen, after the gathering concluded.)
She has not planned to return, not until the night, but then the rain starts to fall, and each drop threatens to drown a person, and all her cold and calculating agenda evaporates. The King crumbles once more and she is Saber again. Shirou! Rin! she thinks while she spreads her folded wings and darts outside without a single moment of hesitation, snapping a pair of leaves during her flight. She arrives as soon as she can, outstretching her arms and holding the leaves up, flying from a side to a side tirelessly in an attempt to catch the rain and keep them dry.
The roar of the thunder shakes her, but she lingers above, fighting against the wind that has started to increase in speed and ferocity. She gnashes her teeth when she loses one of the leaves to the wind and water; it has slipped away from her grasp and carried up the sky, into the mist, out of any possibility of retrieval. ]
Master!
[ Who is she talking to? Shirou? Rin? Both? She can't see well with the rain splashing her face. She still gazes down to search for them. She knew this weather would be troublesome, she has expressed her fear when she talked to Ren. ]
Return to the tree!

Tohsaka!! Illya!!
[it was hard to think. hard to rationalize. just when he was going to attempt to trace a weapon in a fruitless effort to slice through the drops of rain, he heard a familiar voice calling out to him. looking up, he spots a familiar face amidst the storm]
Saber! [not yet...! he had to make sure everyone was safe first. if he could see that everyone had returned to the tree, he'd return as well]

(But that was because she was cheating, using Ruby's magic to create an umbrella over her head, a shield made out of prana.)
Running towards the two of them with a hop and skip, the smaller girl ran through the puddles of water beneath her feet, waving to them with her free hand. ]
Onii-chan! Saber-san! Are you guys okay? [ It seems that she had similar priorities as Shirou, as she seemed rather worried about them. Especially since things were getting rather stormy. ]

She descends from above and wordlessly reaches out to seize Shirou by the shoulder; she is about to drag him away—by force if she must— when she notices Illyasviel rushing toward them. She seems dry… for now, but the wind has become stronger and her grip tightens on Shirou. He is strong, but this gust of air is like a typhoon, it could knock him down without the reinforced strength she possesses.]
I will take you to the tree.
[ She states so firmly and unflinchingly, glancing at the two of them that she makes clear there will not be rooms for objections. She will come and save those she can for them but after they are safe and dry. ]

? [as he suddenly feels the weight of Saber's gauntlet-clad hand on his shoulder, his body tenses as he instinctively realizes what she means to do. this storm was severe, and dangerous to them at their size. if not that, flying pieces of whatever from the wind would also be a hindrance. right now the kitchen was the least of his concerns when it came to the wellbeing of the others here]
Wait, Saber! What if there's anyone else out there? We have to help them.
[he says as a particularly strong gust of air threatens to blow him off his feet]

But she was still human, and she could still get sick. But Shirou was the one, who out of the two of them, would get sick the most. Which was why she got closer to him, grabbing his hand before-- ]
Ruby! Maximize the barrier!
Yes, yes, of course, Illya-san~ [ See? Illya can be helpful, too. Now Shirou doesn't have to get as soaked. ]

Her gaze locks with the girl who has approached Shirou to aid them. Her shield is a fleeting solution to the raging wind. She takes her decision and her armor scatters into silver fragments. She faces the girl first and warns. ]
Illyasviel. Do not let go of his hand.
[She utilizes the spare prana on the single leaf she still holds, injecting it with invisible air after she mutters the attack and making it sturdy and lastly against the typhoon. With her looming free hand, she grasps Shirou's right hand and draws closer in a blink.]
Forgive me, Master. I refuse to repeat myself.
[She says, but doesn't sound as apologetically when she immediately lifts him while she squats down, positioning his body over her shoulder so she would carry him back into the tree. She waits a moment to corroborate if Illya has not released her grip on him, so she can fly them both of them inside. ]

Damn it, Saber! Put me down! Please..!
[it was too late for now. Tohsaka, he could depend on Archer to protect...and despite his regrets, it was in his nature to want to help others in the end, wasn't it? and yet...what about Shirou? what could he do?]
Saber!!
[the least that he could do was hold onto Illya's hand tightly, holding on for dear life and not wanting to let go. she could probably protect herself and make it back. she was strong...but it was all that he had right now until they made it back to the tree. was he really saving her? was he helping? he didn't know, but his protests fell on deaf ears as he left it to Archer, and could only hope that he was lucky that no one else was in danger out here]

She wouldn't let go of Shirou's hand. Not simply because she was told to, but because she didn't want to see him do something reckless. He seemed frustrated, angry. While Miyu's Shirou was like that too, towards the Ainsworths, this Shirou... had no reason like that. So why? Why would he go this far? Why was he acting like this?
It didn't make sense to her as the gears in her head turned, trying to comprehend it.
Instead, she worried for him, squeezing onto Shirou's hand even tighter. ]
Onii-chan!! Don't... [ Her voice was slightly strained as those words passed through her lips. She sounded as if she were in pain. ] Don't be so reckless, Shirou-san.

You too, Shirou. Do not let go of Illyasviel’s hand.
[If he trashes and squirms to be difficult, he could cause trouble to his sister. It is a reasoning that Saber hopes will work flawlessly. She knows she has an ally in the girl, even before picking up the painful-please from her mouth, almost muffle by the hale.
There is no time to argue, she has already taken off with them, spread fluttering as fast as she could to fly at the tree. The leaf she has injected her prana functions like an invisible shield, protecting them from the front gust of winds, created by the storm and her speed. In a matter of seconds, they cross the tree threshold to navigate inside up until they reach their door.]
omg this scene is so serious then that icon... LMAO
Grr..
[but he couldn't risk anything happening to Illya. that was right. if anything, he could at least do this for now. though it's second nature to him, Shirou's hand does hold onto Illya's tighter now as Saber carries them back. she really was amazing; even without being back home, she was still loyal to him...or rather, that wasn't proper to think either. even if she carried a vow to him to protect him, she was a knight who would protect anyone who needed her help. she understood... it was frustrating that he submitted like this, but as he held onto Illya for dear life as they crossed the tree threshold and moved up to their door, he also understood. with a thunderous boom and a lightning flash, once Shirou realized that they were inside where they were safe, he carefully let go of Illya's hand]
...you can put me down now, Saber. [was he trembling from the cold? or from something else?]
no subject
You're okay though... right, Shirou-san? [ She can't help but be slightly wary, slightly unsure. She doesn't feel like calling him the way she usually does, if only because he's not really her brother, after all. They're not even from the same world. ]
And, um, Saber-san, thanks for helping, too.

[ Her voice became stern when she addressed to Shirou. ]
A trembling blade will save no one. Let us strip you from those clothes and warm you, Master.
