You who are guided by fate...
| characters | Two Links and YOU
| date/time | March 27th (backdated)
| location | Outside the Tree
| rating | G
| summary | Two heroes trying to solve a puzzle without their designated chaperones: clearly this is going to end well!
A: The things they do for Pieces of Hearts
Link had been investigating the mirror on the second floor... Not exactly frequently, but enough to have noticed the appearance of words on it's surface. Granted, he had been hoping for something similar to the Mirror of Twilight but this might help as well; the cryptic message written upon its surface was reminiscent of some of the clues that were given to him by the Light Spirits and Sages in Hyrule so surely this must work the same way. This place looked enough like the Forest Temple that Link hadn't figured out their size difference until a few days after his arrival.
Conversely, the Link who had not spent his childhood growing up amongst giant trees had noticed the difference after a couple of hours in, and just... hadn't bothered to bring it up. At all. There were more pressing things to attend to, like the message that had appeared up on the mirror.
It seemed a simple enough task at first. The first line was obviously referencing the chilly weather outside, yes? He didn't even need Fi to tell him that one!
And yet...
Here were the two of them, outside, bottles in hand, evidently with the same idea.
The same idea and the same greeting; silence. But with the two of them, getting the snow up to the altar should be simple enough, right? It would be like delivering the hot spring water only in reverse. That shouldn't be too hard, especially since there was no enemies around to knock the bottle out of his hand and yet...
The 'younger' Link hadn't expected the snow to melt so quickly when he tried to fly through the trunk and up to the altar... Though after the third or fourth time he nearly fell out of the sky, he'd decided to trade off with his ancestor. The other seemed like he was more comfortable in the air anyway.
While he certainly had no trouble taking to flight, transporting snow was a more difficult task than anticipated. Going up through the inside, while safer, melted the cargo much too quickly-- conversely, the weather outdoors made it too difficult to fly without being bogged down immediately. A handful of unsuccessful attempts later, he trudged back over to his descendant, wingless and soggy and a great deal less enthusiastic than he had been starting out.
This... really isn't working, is it?
There was a grimace when he spotted his ancestor looking like a disgruntled cat before he walked over to pat the other on the shoulder. Maybe they should focus on something else in the meantime? Considering there was two other parts of the puzzle maybe they would have better luck seeking out the other two items.
... But first they should probably dry off, huh?
B: [sound of hearts slowly replenishing]
Along the ground around them there were teeny, tiny pockets of ground poking out from the ground; areas where the Links had tried to scoop up some snow to place on the Altar. And while they hadn't quite given up on that quest just yet, the two of them had come to the mutual agreement that a break was in order. Surely Fi and Midna would have been throwing probabilities/berating them for slacking off like so but... Neither of themcould be were here. So the two were standing a short distance from the entrance to stare out into the fog where the silhouette of a massive beast was periodically visible.
They each had some bread and nuts and were sharing the impromptu picnic between the two of them. And it seemed that they were discussing... Were they discussing the riddle upon the mirror? Quiet as their discussion was, it seemed that they were getting sidetracked every once in a while.
[ooc: Twilight and Skyward. Both will be replying to threads, but let us know if you want one Link in particular! Or make fun of them both; two losers for the price of one!!]

b! both are good
Twins are a rarity in the Panopticon, where every child born was given a sentence for the crime of living. Children were raised away from the populace - she had no memories of her childhood, and didn't consider it important enough to ask her friends. Nevertheless, she is intrigued - it's common for Accessories to look like each other, but for humans... huh...
"What're you two up to?"
Her arms are folded, but her posture is relaxed. Ramiel tails her as usual, watching from a short distance away.

Posting order; Wyrden > Twilight > Skyward
He wasn't the sort to be confrontational so, after casting the white haired man a curious look, Link gave the girl a smile. Then he looked to his
ancestorprevious incarnationlookalike in question before replying."Taking a break."
Perfect, 10/10, such explain much help.
Sorry for the delay!
slightly tallerother Link shrugs slightly at the first, expression pleasant when he turns to the girl and her follower and offers a chunk of bread from their stash. It seemed like the polite thing to do, at least."Would you like some?"
Sheesh, they even act and sound similar, too! Reincarnation, man, it's wild.
hellooo
"Nope, I'm good. Thanks." No taking food from others without payment, that's what she'd accept. But anyway. There are unnatural holes on the floor, almost as if something had stepped onto the snow, or...
"You guys working or something? I can help."
technical difficulties loading takes a while B|
Link pops the remaining piece of nut into his mouth before reaching behind him to hold up an empty and still slightly damp bottle.
no subject
"...Haven't quite figured it out yet." It comes out as a mumble, a bit too embarrassed to speak any sort of clearly, whoops.
no subject
"You can't put it in the bottle?" No, that probably isn't it... "Oh. It turns into water."
Whoopsie. She doesn't have some coolant, but...
"I can try, I guess?" Hammerspace didn't do anything to her equipment when she'd stashed them in. "I've got this."
Indicating the black rectangular box strapped to her waist.
no subject
Link looks at the rectangular box curiously. Did it work the same way Midna's magic did?
"How does that work?"
Genuinely curious. Maybe if it was kept away from physical contact, the snow would be less likely to melt?
no subject
And since the other Link had so conveniently asked the question he'd been pondering, this one just straightens up, peering at the box with interest. He's thinking along the same lines-- magic, maybe?
no subject
"It's... well. It's a box." No shit, Sherlock. "It compresses things that you put inside, so you can carry a lot more than what you can on your hands."
She holds out one palm to them, waiting to see if they would lend her the bottle to try.
no subject
Well, he had his bottle out already... He still turned to look at his fellow Hero to see what his thoughts on the matter was. If it was all right then the bottle was hers to use (hopefully there's nothing in that box of hers that shouldn't get wet).
hay bruh hay
"...That thing out there... what did you call it before?"
It didn't seem like something they could reach-- not unless it approached the tree willingly. Whether or not it was the 'mad eater' or not was still in question, too, but he was content to watch for now...
*chorus of bruhs*
Link knew from previous experiences with the goats and Epona that these sorts of animals had voracious appetites, but he couldn't call them 'mad' per se. Epona, especially, was the sort who would refuse meals if she was upset with him. And the fastest he'd ever seen a goat chew through feed was... Well, there were a bunch of different ways of describing it but 'mad' certainly wasn't it.
He broke off a piece of nut and chewed on it thoughtfully. After a moment, he quietly added; "I don't know if that's our target..."
But who knows? Link was using his own experiences as reference when this place might operate under completely different rules. Or have it's own set of legends and stories that would lead them down the right path.
bruhgulls?!
The answer came back just as quietly, slightly amused-- if only to dispel some of the disappointment. Perhaps they'd have to wait for something else to show up and start 'madness'. ...Which was fine, in a way. He was used to waiting. The surprising part was staying awake to chat with the other Link as opposed to napping until something interesting happened to prod him along...
