[The day chosen for the gathering is a fairly windy one; rain appears to be inevitable with so many clouds gathering. Underneath the grey skies, the best spot to hold this meeting is probably many steps away of the left of the entrance, far from the pink daffodil and its effects and near the growing sprouts of thyme.]

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BUGS

I think it would be pertinent of us to remember that we are not the only guests here in this lovely tree! All of your ideas sound marvelous so far, but we shouldn't forget to include all the lil' bugs here! I'm sure they will be more than happy to share with us, and even help us with their own unique abilities!

[OH NO THE SPIDERS. At their mention her face just falls into a great big pout.]

Oh, the poor things! See, Mister Grasshopper brings up a very good point! We should all strive to get along with the bugs so something like that never happens again!

[Aaaand she's immediately back to cheerful mode.]

That also reminds me, I don't believe I ever thanked you for helping me, Mister Grasshopper. Thank you very, very much!

[Link's mouth drops open. In the span of a few seconds, she'd been pouting, and then cheerful, and then-- thanking him? For what? He certainly doesn't remember personally helping-- oh. Oh!]

W-wait, I don't think I... that was... um...

[Fidgeting a bit, hands raised in front of him in a 'it wasn't me!' gesture!]

[Agitha's head slowly tilts to one side and she puts one finger to her lips during this display.]

You don't remember? But you saved me! It was when the spider bit me and...

[She trails off, narrows her eyes, and inches towards him.]

Wait... you're not Mister Grasshopper!

...Not exactly.

[He admits that with a sheepish smile.] But I'm glad he was able to help you..!

[That does nothing to explain why there's more than one of you running around, Link...]

[ why is nai even here at the gathering? who knows, he came with a friend probably. his home has been rather lonely with missing roommates, lately.

but more importantly!! ]

The fireflies and the glowworms want to help us! They're really warm and kind to everyone. I want to share with them. Is that okay?

Of course! It's so nice of them to keep us warm and light our homes, isn't it? It's only fair that we share with them! [nod nod]

[ yes yes! this girl understands! ] I hope they don't get cold and wet from the rain. Maybe we can give them some of our blankets?

That would be a wonderful idea! It does get awfully chilly at night, doesn't it?

Chilly? Cold? [ that's what she means, right? he's heard the word a few times by now. [ Yeah, it's really cold! It was more cold when there was snow, but not anymore. Now it's really dark and windy.

[ not quite the environment he's used to. ] I'm Nai! Let's give them our blankets together.

BUGS AND ANIMALS DISCUSSION

The insects have a semblance of sentience, but what about the rest of the animals?

[She is concerned to know the answer. Because if they start to hunt them for their skin or their meat they should be normal animals.]

Oh, we should ask them and see what they say!

[...That's not helping, Agitha.]

I see. [It sounds sensible, actually.] Would you do this for us?

[lady_bug]

[noooo don't encourage her.]

Hmmm, I'll ask the fireflies to ask the animals for us. I'm sure they'll help! [nods.]

[knight_king]

Could you? I would not like to see you near a dangerous beast.

[The girl is having fun, so she should not take this from her.

It will give her a sense of value.]

[It's a good question, actually, and Korra takes a second to think about all the encounters they've had with the creatures around the tree before she answers.]

I'm not 100% sure. The ants definitely understood what we were saying and could kind of communicate back. We were too busy fighting off the spiders to talk to them, but I bet they could understand us, too.

[Korra bites her lip.] Uh, if the animals are sentient, then we might have a problem. I've seen some of us hunting the squirrels before.

[She assents slowly. She has heard the ants were able to communicate, in their way, with the group.

And then her expression darkens]

We cannot change the past, but at least we will take steps to avoid more misunderstandings.

Maybe we could try to...approach them. More animals have been showing up around here, not just the squirrels anymore.

[Then they'd know for sure if the animals could communicate with them or not.]

The insects might not have been a friendly bunch, but one of these new animals might be different. And they're native to this world. They might know something.

Perhaps. But it would be easier if we simply rent a mount and try to converse with them. They seem less shy to our presence.

[They are tamed, after all.]

You are probably right in this.

[Oh Agitha, Arno hadn't forgotten the spider thing and he won't anytime soon. He was thankful the weird girl was okay but. Yeah.

He couldn't believe he was here doing this but, well, also yeah.]

The little lady has an idea, not everything here is hostile. It's worth protecting as much as our unfortunate selves.

[Part of him still believes this was why they were here to begin with. This place wasn't France, but that didn't mean there wasn't something or someone here to care about. That would make him an ass. And no, Arno wasn't an ass. He knew when he had to be dutiful, even if he didn't want to be here as much as anyone else.]

[MISTER BUTTERFLY. Agitha hasn't forgotten how he blew up a spider right in front of her face. Never mind that he was, you know, saving her life. But she had to acknowledge that he agreed with her!]

Yes! And that means that we mustn't rush into judgement!

[Arno wasn't trying really hard to see if she was scolding him or not for before. It was about time it happened. She seriously reacted far worse to saving her life and killing the spider more than the spider biting and nearly getting her killed.

He kept a straight face and let her do...whatever she wanted to do.

At least she was alive and was able to criticize.

So maybe he could clarify his own stance, maybe at least Agitha can understand his own point of view. Perhaps be less pissed.

Because, well, it sucked to have a little kid be mad. Even if it was for something like saving a life, he did blow a hole in a spider. Spiders are more precious than her own life-okay getting back to it.]

I can't speak for whatever is out there to actually harm us, but if the tree spirit was any indication; there are plenty out there who just live out their own lives. There may be others. The fireflies and glow-worms especially have been around to acquaint us with our way of life.

If the bugs here are anything like the bugs from my home, then they're all willing to be friends with us! And if they don't know it yet, we'll talk to them first!

[Except the bugs back in Hyrule aren't bigger than she is, but eh, details.]
