I really have to wonder at how quickly we're destroying this place.

[ Archer announces himself over the amber with that casual and dire remark. His tone is bored. ]

First of all, we've upset the balance of nature by killing a predator and allowing defenseless prey animals to multiply unchecked. Those rabbits will probably suffer once they meet the cruel reality of life beyond this tree, you know.

And now we've nearly destroyed the tree itself with our meddling. Isn't that impressive?

[ Now his voice is just dripping sarcasm. ]

Well done, everyone. Whoever brought us all here should really have expected these results. It's exactly what human beings do, after all.

Welcome to how almost every world works. There's a reason a lot of worlds have a violent and chaotic history.

[steelmyself]

You talk like you're familiar with "a lot of worlds." Is that so?

[stormcalling]

I do come from a race of people who travel from world to world. In case you feel like asking, no I don't remember exactly how many it's been. A lot.

[steelmyself]

Hmm...

And are there any without conflict? You would remember that, I presume.

[stormcalling]

The worlds all sort of bleed into each other. Some were likely more peaceful than others. I'd be lying if I said I remember any being without conflict. I'm sure people were fighting over something. Aliens being on their planet, resources, bloody natures...all of that stuff.

[steelmyself]

[ His voice is a little more thoughtful now. ]

It's really inevitable, I suppose.

[stormcalling]

The ultimate reality is that as peaceful as something may appear there are always oddities which result the cycle of violence continuing.

[A moment later she realize maybe she shouldn't be miss pessimist entirely.] That doesn't mean peace isn't achievable. It simply means it doesn't last forever.

[steelmyself]

Well, it's natural.

[ Unfortunately, he doesn't realize he shouldn't be mister pessimist entirely. ]

There's only so much happiness and comfort to go around, and far more people--so they'll always fight over it to achieve their own wishes.

[stormcalling]

[No please pick up on not being a pessimist all the time. It's going to go downhill so quickly if they keep it up.]

I wish thinking more that some people are prone to being irrational, violent, greedy or whatever else one might consider to be a negative driving factor.

[steelmyself]

Hmmm?

[ He raises his brows. ]

Only some people? Aren't most people capable of terrible things, in the end?

Perhaps a few are very pure, but they're outliers.
