It seems as though the mirror on this branch is enchanted! It's showing a riddle at the moment.

It reminds you of a riddle the heroes would find in a storybook, don't you think? But of course, reading a story and being in a story are two entirely different things.

Yes, right in the mirror itself! I didn't see who wrote it, unfortunately. [Though she suspects the writer didn't need to actually be there to put it up.]

AHA! The first elusive piece of the puzzle! The unfolding of our destinies begins! ...And it's about time, too. I was starting to wonder what was taking so long.

Not always, sometimes, one can be part of the story that you're reading.

[He's checked the mirror out, but without any of his tools from home here, there's no easy way for him to investigate the enchantment on the mirror.]

I have my suspicions, the first item, that A diamond from the clouds, may be a rain drop.

[Arno was a little annoyed, not at her. But my goodness, they are brought her with no information and are expected to solve riddles?]

It's on the branch that reaches out from the housing levels, with the huge--well, I suppose it's a normal sized mirror, but to us it's huge--piece of broken mirror on it.

The unfolding of something, certainly! It is nice to have something, but it's a rather vague way to get in contact.

Oh my, I'm not sure what I would do in such a recursive situation.

A rain drop... or a sleet fragment, or snowflake. That would be difficult to carry.

I'm not sure yet. The only creature I've seen here apart from us is that spiderish silhouette... and I'm not sure it would be a good idea to set her free, if that's the "servant of the tree." But this is a tree, so there are undoubtedly other animals living in and around it.

Oh, I don't think I've met you properly--my name is Fuu.

[Yeah, she's a little put out too. These tree people could take a cue from the folks who took Fuu to a different world last time. Not that she's showing her annoyance.]

Yes indeed, sir. I suppose it's better than nothing.

[The amber's image is already jiggling around a little, like the person using it is on the move.]

I could possibly make it easier.

[Though a rain drop could possibly be carried in a cup or a pot. As for a snowflake, he could keep it frozen with magic and carry it since the cold wouldn't bother him.]

We could try both a rain drop and a snow flake, figure out which it wanted.

Vague... or mysterious? [He laughs lightly.] This is so great! Is it a hard riddle?

What does the riddle say? Do we just need to solve it, or is there more to it?

[Because depending on the story, solving the riddle was sometimes an end unto itself, but more often, the riddle was just a clue to someplace one had to go or something one had to do.]

[ wow, she sure sounds like she knows what she's talking about. nai smiles at her in wonder before perking up at the introduction. ] I'm Nai. [ and then the smile fades. ] The spider...? Is that the big thing all the way up in the tree? I tried going there but I couldn't.

[ he doesn't want to talk about that, so he tries to offer some ideas. ] What about the fireflies? They're nice to me.

You mean you've been in a... story-in-a-story before?

[well, maybe not so weird, as she herself has been to another world before...]

Yes, that would be a good idea... covering all the bases, so to speak.

I'm on the mirror branch, outside of the houses. [She flips the amber around to show the entrance and what's around it to give Korra a point of reference.]

Well, both, I suppose. [She cups her cheek in one hand] It's certainly noteworthy! But I'm not sure how hard it is yet, since I only found it a few minutes ago.

I think that's for the best--most spiders aren't dangerous to people at normal size, but every spider would be to us.

The fireflies are quite amiable, aren't they? They seem to be willing enough, but I suppose they could be under an enchantment.

[monster_san]

[Wait wait are you a cat person...? An alien? Not that Fuu is indicating her surprise, she looks polite and friendly as ever.]

I don't know if we need to solve it, and I'm sure there's more to it than what we see. But it is the only sign we've had of a greater power in the tree.

At least we're not bored.

[Sigh.]

Though if the mirror was any indication, I don't know if they're toying with us or having us to their bidding.

[ 'amiable'? 'enchantment'?? he has no clue what any of this means, but it doesn't seem like she's saying something bad. ] The fireflies won't hurt us! We have to be nice to them too.

[ he stares at the amber for a quiet moment or two. ] I wonder who put the riddle there.

[Then Korra drops her amber slice back onto her bed and heads for the mirror branch, raising a hand in greeting when she sees Fuu.]

Hey. Guess we know what this is for now.

[She had wondered, when she first saw it.]
