03 💎 AMBER
I was thinking about our living situation as of late. [ Some people waste time on greetings, Rin surprisingly forgets to at times. Consider this an invitation for open conversation. ]
Sometimes newcomers show up and they have no idea what's going on. Not that we fare any better these days--but I mean, they arrive confused. Often people who are confused lash out. Why just a couple weeks ago, someone tried shooting arrows at me when I approached them in a distressed state. [ Everyone who had felt attacked by Noire please raise your hands now. ] Perhaps if there had been someone there who was trained to speak to her properly, then that sort of attack would have never taken place here.
Considering our lack of medical supplies and overall lack of doctors, it's a good idea to recruit individuals to work as part of a welcoming committee in order to combat these disturbances. Having someone helpful approach a newcomer might keep them from desperately trying to defend themselves and destroy what little property we've managed to accumulate here.
Initially I was thinking just speaking with them might be good enough, but why not give them a little welcoming gift as well? They're going to be our neighbors from now on so we must encourage good relations right from the start. I was thinking I could sew them slippers with the leaves since those are easy to produce without offending anyone... unless we get someone who doesn't have feet like a mermaid. Geez, that might be troublesome.
Ah! That's right. We should concern ourselves with the topic of clothing as well--if no one else has started a conversation about that? Okay, I can do both. Let's talk the welcoming committee and clothing situation right now.
[ Clearing her throat. ] If you're useful in any way or have some suggestions, I'll have them now.

[He pauses.] Sewing slippers out of leaves? Is that… possible here? [His backpack and tunic are sturdy enough, but he didn’t realize that technique could be duplicated.]

Everything else here is made out of the materials around us. Eventually our clothing will have to be.
no subject
Unless we can find a way to recreate the stamina of our packs and tunics, I don’t see how it would be possible.
no subject
[ Humming thoughtfully. ] What was the tunic made of? The same kind of greenery that can be found around the tree, correct? Has anyone tried making something without relying on magic?

Time jump if that’s okay?

As for clothing, we may want to start sewing some trousers for when the weather is cool--and perhaps collect some of the shed fur. I believe there are fabrics that can be made out of plant materials--if and when Miss Chime opens shop again, we should procure any cloth she has there as well.

Trousers? [ This is the sound of someone who finds those unsightly. ]
A skirt would less material, wouldn't it? Though the gentlemen would have to wear kilts instead or oh, we could wear toga. Wouldn't that be an odd sight to see? Toga and wings.

[ She would have certainly made that wrong assumption if she had not seen Shirou first. ] This is a delicate topic, I wish I could assist you, though I am not certain what can I do, Rin. [ It is not unusual of Saber to think lowly in her capacities to comfort others.
She looks intently when Rin mentions the clothes. This is a topic she has discussed with Korra in the past and is glad she has noticed this. But she expects it of Rin. ]
Animal pelts could take care of the need for warm clothes. [ There are squirrels and rabbits, correct? ] We also have leather available supplied by the snake we slew. [ That can be used as shoewear and other accessories, not just clothes. ]
no subject
Animal pelts would be fine, but a little warm don't you think? If only that spider hadn't been killed prior to our arrival. We could have used the silk from the webs and that would have been far superior.
no subject
I was thinking about the future. [ She dislikes to bring this up, but it has been longer than a month and there is no sign of progress. ] It will not always remain warm and sunny.
[ She nods, knowing Rin has a point. ]
And nothing of the webs remain? Perhaps we should ask those who were involved in case they had the foresight to store the silk.

[She clears her throat.]
But those are all really good ideas.

Can I have your help in them or are you just here to give praise?
no subject
Of course I'll help!

... and I also don't love people getting shot. So I mean, it sounds like a great match to me! I don't know exactly how I could help with clothes, but I won't say I wouldn't help out with clothes, too.

[ She's so ready to exploit it and make him do more than his fair share of work. Sure hope he enjoys chores. ]
I don't have an actual sign up sheet so it'd have to be a verbal contract. You understand, don't you?
no subject
Yeah, sure. I agree to help, and then I make sure I stick to my word! Plus I don't have to spend time signing anything. More convenient than getting a package in the mail!

Yes, you should do that. They could put on a light show for all the newcomers.

It's good to extend kindness to your neighbors so that they do the same for you in the future.
You should be able to recall that as a human-like trait and besides, it isn't as if I'm behaving like a young boy who is enthusiastically recruited to fix up every broken thing at school. [ She pokes him in a spot that doesn't look all that imposing to the outside, but is critical of his ways all the same. ]

[ He doesn't pursue the teasing further than that, for now. In truth, he's glad to see her doing something, so he hardly wants to discourage her. ]
But as for sewing, do we even have thread?

I can help too. I could make food baskets for people with whatever we get at the altar. Some people that show up here might be hungry off the bat.
no subject
Food doesn't solve every conflict, Emiya. [ Even after she's said that, she's sighing because there's some truth to it. ]
If we can stave off their hunger a bit, newcomers might be more willing to listen though I can't help feeling that most of the food will be wasted. What if they think we're trying to poison them?
no subject
The world would be an easier place to deal with if it did. [solving world hunger. ending the Holy Grail War by the power of cooking and feeding people alone. ... somehow he imagines that there's some world where food wars took precendence. and it was weird.
and appealing]We can't really help that if they're panicking... What if we didn't do a food basket, but even a little piece of something. Nuts are easy enough to break up and give to people, and it wouldn't be as much of a waste as whipping up a whole meal and seeing it go to waste. Much as I wouldn't mind doing it.
[he's genuinely putting in a lot of thought for how to commit to welcoming newcomers. losing a piece of nut wasn't a big loss over something elaborate for those that weren't receptive]
amber;
[She pauses. Giving them something to wear would be good and using leaves would solve the cloth shortage problem, but...]
Do you think the slippers will hold together if we make them from leaves?
