[how long has Shirou been here, using the amber every once in a while to talk to a couple of people, but never outright saying anything to the public? almost two months? how much time has passed? granted Shirou isn't much of a 'public speaker' so to speak.

otherwise whenever he finally got a cell phone his contacts list would be rather small. but here was a little different. everyone was just like him, right? they all came from different worlds, those that banded together to take on that snake some time ago (unfortunately he missed the aftermath), and even within his own circle of friends and allies...]

Hopefully everyone I met when that snake came a while ago is doing alright. I don't think there was a lot of time for us to get to know each other with everything going on, but,

[he lightly smiles before blinking into the amber. ...this was working, right? he was fine with technology and he's used it before. but not to talk to...well, everyone]

Ah...well, anyway, for anyone that I haven't met here yet, my name's Shirou Emiya. I'm from Fuyuki City in Japan, for anyone who might know where that is. Nice to meet you all. [what else? this wasn't like introducing himself in school. realizing that, he stops there]

Let's see...

To be honest, I'm not sure what else to say. We're all in the same situation here, but it's only a matter of time until we figure out a way to go back home. I like to think I'm pretty good at fixing things here. [but not just for fixing things] If anyone needs a hand with anything around here, let me know.

[talking to himself as he taps the amber, he doesn't realize he cut himself off. ah well, it was a start! now what to do for dinner tonight...]

[he'd flex his muscle for her in response to that if she was there right now. he'll have to call her back for dinner time if she's not back soon anyway. but her request gets him to pause and he just...awkwardly stares before scratching his cheek]

Sorry, Illya. That- [thing? curse? stick?] -Ruby's a little out of my league.

[ Laughing hollowly, she rubs the nape of her neck. ] What kind of things do you normally fix-?

Ah, well... Back home, I mostly did the repairs at school. If a heater goes down, or the air conditioning needs repairing, a door's loose, clean out the swimming pool.

I like to work with all sorts of things. Plus it's good practice for my magecraft.

I thought I just heard something absurd on the amber. Could it possibly be Shirou Emiya claiming he can fix things and help figure out a way back home? Ah, that's really far too ridiculous.

Ah? [oh no] I thought I heard some idiot say something just now... [it's happening] Can't place my finger on it though.

[ She is giving Shirou an indulgent "well done son" look from across the room. ]

Yeah, if I don't think of it, could you set the table before dinner's ready? I'll get started in the next couple minutes here.

[She goes to set the table for three... but as she is gathering the utensils, she asks.]

Will Rin join us today? [She sounds hopeful, and glances at Shirou's direction, nudging him to go for her. She lives next door, after all.]

[Oh it was the Faker nii-san. The first thing he sees after moving in, how cute!]

I'm sure you'll figure something out, onii-san! Keep trying and maybe you'll get somewhere!

Ah? [this kid was addressing him so formally... no introductions, nothing of the sort. but his voice is so uplifting, and it even sounds encouraging. he doesn't sense any real malice. that was uplifting at least. but...]

It's only a matter of time until it happens...uhm... .......

[was he supposed to know this little guy? his mind is going blank. but almost immediately he remembers how people could come from different walks of reality here, and his confusion seems to lift only slightly]

I don't remember if I've ever met you before, I'm sorry. [one would think he'd remember golden hair and such rich red eyes like that] Do I look like someone you know?

[ Ah, it was a different faker. That made sense, he didn't look nearly as brown and burnt. Still, they seemed like similar types of people. The kaleidoscope was such a strange thing. ]

Oh, if you haven't met me before that's fine! I'm just a kid passing by. Let's see, you can call me... Gil! Like the things fish have?

It's nice of you to offer to help. What kind of things do you fix?

Ah...yeah! [he vaguely remembers in passing too] Nice to meet you, Korra-san.

There's not a lot of it here, but mostly electronic stuff. But I'm pretty handy at a lot of things too. If that storm from before did more damage on our homes, I'd probably be going around fixing doors or windows.

Electronic stuff.. like machines?

[She's curious--even if they don't have any machines around here, it's still good to know what everyone's strengths are, in case it's needed later.]

Are you doing all right after that, Shirou-san? [obviously the BIG BLOODY HOLE is gone, but there might be more lasting effect... not that it's strictly her business, not knowing him well, but she is worried about it.] It's nice that you're so public-spirited.

Saber-san mentioned that you and Rin-san are from Fuyuki. Can I ask you a little about it? I'm from Tokyo.

Fuu-san? [Saber had put him at ease when he finally came to that everyone was alright, but touching base with her now was great too. she was the one responsible for helping him heal after the battle with the snake, and he felt indebt to her for taking the time for him. so with a bright and confident smile, he flexes an arm for her while he holds his amber in his other hand] I'm feeling just fine, thanks to you and Saber. [Saber for more reasons than one it seemed]

Where is it, exactly? What she told me sounds interesting, but I haven't heard the name before. [Not that it's unusual; she wouldn't know the name of every small-to-medium-sized city in the country.]

We haven't met, but I am fairly new to the tree. My name is Ivaera Surana. It's a pleasure to meet you, Shirou.

It's kind of you to offer your aid. [And it pleases her to see that most people are the same, given that they really only have each other to rely on.] What items do you repair? And are you capable of constructing them as well?

Ivaera-san...? [now that he's got that name committed to memory, he'll offer a smile back] Nice to meet you too.

Everyone seems to be working hard here, so I can't not lend a hand. [he'd lend a hand even if no one else did anything, but that was beside the point] I'm mostly a handyman kind of person, but I've fixed up heaters, kitchen appliances, things like that for people too. Without electricity or fire though, it'd be tough to tell if something was working here or not.

[as for what he can repair and especially construct? well...]

I can make weapons and possibly repair them for people too. [he knew that there were plenty of people willing to fight here] It'd probably be easier for others if I just fixed something that people already own though.

[with his and Archer's seeming limit on how many times they could project swords, they couldn't exactly stand as an armory to give everyone weapons in the first place. so taking a branch and making it stronger, or turning something into a bow for someone to use, the little things with reinforcement could do wonders]

I helped build up the cold storage we've been using to keep some things fresh longer too.

[Ivaera tilts her head, momentarily puzzled.]

Why would you need electricity to see if an item functions? I don't follow.

[Yeah, the level of technology is a bit different where she's from. Lightning exists to blast enemies and that's that, nothing more.]

I have my own weapon, though it's good to know that there is at least one among us who can provide more. Perhaps such a skill won't be needed, but that's more than likely wishful thinking.

Hm...do you have any knowledge of constructing other devices? I admit, I have a reason for asking. There has been talk among myself and others about an attempt to construct a lift for the Tree, to transport supplies or people who do not wish to use wings.
