JOURNEY OF TWILIGHT

The fairy ship goes by the stream in what will starts as a rocky river ride to a smoother, deeper stream further north. After a few hours, the stream opens into a large lake full of water lilies and reeds, creating a beautiful labyrinth. Here, the deep water is very clear, shimmering fish curiously following the ship.

The adventure begins!

[Kit wouldn't be too worried about such herself if it weren't for the size of the fish. She's a fairly good swimmer, after all, but doesn't fancy tangling with a fish the relative size of a horse, even if it isn't carnivorous.]

Yeah. We'd have to be careful, though. We don't know if we're gonna have to bring anything else back, and we don't wanna have too much extra weight.

[Still though... the thought of fresh baked fish is very tempting.]

Still... how big of a fish do you think the big, fat firefly could cook?

I know this, so we could chop the best pieces and throw the rest. [Some of them should know how to gut a fish, right?] It will be a waste, though it is the best course of action.

[She taps her chin.]

Plenty, I suppose if a capable chef is given the meat. There are some dishes that serve raw fish too.

[Kit nods. As a matter of fact she does know how, though the relative size of the fish means she'd likely require help to actually do it.]

Yeah. We'd have to get rid of the innards, at least. I think there's things you can do with them, but given the kinds of utensils we've got back at the Tree...

[She trails off a little. Their choices of cooking utensils are rather limited.

She makes a bit of a face at the suggestion of eating raw fish, though.]

Are you sure? Mama always said we shouldn't eat fish or meat raw cause it might make us sick.

Hm, I see you are very knowledgeable about handling fishes. [She approves of this. This means that they can rely on her if it becomes necessary.] You can teach me how to do this and I will make sure the fish is gutted.

[She can sharpen a piece of wood with Invisible Air. She will not utilize Excalibur to cook.]

I never hard of it until I travelled to Japan. I do not know how they prepare it to make it edible and palatable.

[Kit blushes a little.]

Heheh... Well, I wouldn't really say that. But most of the meat we had back home was fish when they were in season, and we always helped Mama clean what we caught. But yeah I'd definitely need your help given how big the fish is compared to us.

[Kit looks thoughtful.]

Huh... well maybe somebody back at the Tree does. We should probably just stick to cooking it though.

Yes. I can carry a fish of that size, if you cannot.

[She will just reinforce her muscles with prana burst.]

Shirou is an expert. Japan is an island, they have plenty recipes involving fish.

[Usually the saltwater ones.]

[Kit nods. It's hardly unusual for an adult Thunderan to be able to lift that much weight, so she doesn't think anything of it.]

Hmmm... I've never been to an island before. Though I have been to a floating city. The birds who lived there were really snooty, though.

The land I lived was a large island away from main land.

[ surrounded by the sea she despises ]

Was your experience unpleasant in this floating city?

Yeah. The birds there were really stuck-up especially their leader, Voltaire. And their food was gross; they wanted us to eat bugs and things like they did. Good thing Kat and I had a secret stash of candy fruit.

And they didn't care what Mumm-Ra was doing to Third Earth. They thought they were safe in their city up in the sky, and wouldn't help us, even after Tygra beat Voltaire in a flying ship race, fair and square. They even called us names, like 'feral barbarians' and stuff.

They did at least have a good reason for it, though. The Power Stone that we needed- the Tech Stone- was what was keeping their city up in the air; if anybody just took it, the city would crash. Lion-O wasn't willing to do that, no matter how much we needed it, and wanted to try and find another way.

Mumm-Ra didn't have any problem with taking it, though, and in the end, the city wound up crashing anyway. But thanks to Panthro, it was about as soft a landing as possible and nobody got killed when it happened.

Birds eat insects, it is not a vile diet but a common one. [ she tries to sound conciliatory, it must have been a standard food offering. She listens to that experience she endured, the slurs and segregations. ] They were looking for the well-being of their people.

It gladdens me to hear that the city was not completely destroyed and the losses were minimized. Does this stone still in possession of Mumm-Ra?

Well it's vile to me. I don't wanna eat giant caterpillars and things. And judging by the face he made, neither did Panthro.

[Still, better him than her.]

Yeah, I know. But they could have said no without being jerks about it and acting like no one else's problems mattered.

Yeah. The Berbils'll get Evista City flying again eventually. But Mumm-Ra got away with the Tech Stone, thanks to Pumyra. Now we have to find the fourth Power Stone before he does, or we'll have even more trouble.

I understand. Were they served raw and without preparation?

[from what it sounds like.]

How many stones have you collected?

I think some of them were even still alive. [makes a face at the memory] The big caterpillar Panthro ate some of was roasted though. Not that it really helped much.

We've got two now. The Eye of Thundera- that was originally called the War Stone- and the Spirit Stone. Mumm-Ra has the Tech Stone, and nobody knows where the fourth one is yet.

[ Alive and wriggling? Saber makes a face that is certainly not prepared. ]

My sympathies you had to endure this diet once.

[ She means it.

War, Spirit, Technology...? ]

What is the fourth one called?

[Kit shrugs.]

We don't know. Lion-O knows what it looks like, since he saw it in the Book of Omens, but aside from that, we don't know anything about it. Where it is, what it does, what animal tribe took it when the Stones were separated, nothing. I just hope Mumm-Ra doesn't know either.

Hm. How are you going to look for it without any lead besides its appearance?

The Book of Omens. It points the way to the Stones with a beam of light. Though it really confused us for awhile when it was pointing straight up; we didn't find out about Evista City til Lion-O and Panthro found an old flying ship we could fix up.

What about your enemy? Does he have a way to find them as you do?

I don't think so. He only found the Tech Stone so easily because he had Pumyra spying on us for him. But that won't work again; we know what side she's on now.

Hm. Another traitor to your cause? How many work for him in your world, I wonder.

Sort of. Pumyra kind of died just after the battle with Mumm-Ra and the lizard army that destroyed Thundera. She blamed Lion-O for not saving her, even though there was no way he could have known she was there.

Mumm-Ra used her anger and how much she wanted revenge to bring her back to life and use her against us, though I dunno how he did it. And I don't know what Pumyra was like before either, so there's no way to know how much of what she did was her, and how much was Mumm-Ra.

This Mumm-Ra is capable of Third Magic?

[She looks impressed, if that girl was truly dead then.]

It is possible that he has control over her mind if he brought her back to life. If she is bound as a familiar to him, the best would be put her out misery.

I... guess? I really don't know how he did it, and I kinda don't want to.

And I don't know about her being a 'familiar' either. but he called her his 'beloved', and she kissed his hand.

[Kit makes a bit of a face at that. Just the thought of kissing Mumm-Ra, even just his armored hand, is gross.]

I see.

[She frowns. Perhaps this woman became his lover? She cannot know if there is some magical coercion involved or not.]

Familiars are animals or spirits at the bidding of a mage. The most powerful ones have a contract with them.

[Kit thinks a moment]

I guess she could be one then, but there's no real way to know, unless we find out more. Either way, it's creepy.
