JOURNEY OF TWILIGHT

The fairy ship goes by the stream in what will starts as a rocky river ride to a smoother, deeper stream further north. After a few hours, the stream opens into a large lake full of water lilies and reeds, creating a beautiful labyrinth. Here, the deep water is very clear, shimmering fish curiously following the ship.

The adventure begins!

You will endanger everyone because of your capricious whim?

[ Her teeth grit and she’s almost tempted to release the rod and leave the fish to sink into the depths of the water. But there is no telling what the animal, flailing and frightening will do is she does not keep it as still as possible. Its fin could tumble their ship. She just cannot overlook that childish conduct, even if he is a boy… perhaps she would have been more indulgent if she hasn't suspected his connection to Gilgamesh. Although she too wants meat, she would prefer to seek a method of fishing that did not turn their vessel a potential wrecked battlefield.

This boy seems completely unaware of moderation.

As the golden ripples appear, the sickening feeling increases, she cannot fight him when his back is turned against her and he is trusting her as some kind of comrade on arms. She cannot stand either to the sight of the scared beast getting cut, bits by bits, bleeding slowly. It is too cruel.]

This is enough. Put it out of misery now or I will destroy it completely!

[ She will deal with him once her hands are not occupied. ]

Danger? Don't be foolish, we are in no danger at all! The name of the King of Heroes would be worthless if I allowed a fish to deliver a single scratch to any of my charges!

[ A sliver of the adult Gilgamesh's arrogance came through as Enkidu lifted the fish out of the water, the nearly unbreakable chains more than a match for a mere fish even without using its anti-Divinity powers. Once it was held still and he had a clear shot, a single man-sized sword pierced it through the head, instantly killing the fish. ]

See? I had things completely under control. And it's not quite mealtime yet, so...

[ Once he was sure the fish was dead and not likely to start trashing about all of a sudden, the chains retracted back into the Gate of Babylon, carrying the fish together with it into the timeless vault of the king. It really was handy. ]

Once we find land we'll have enough space to fillet and cook it. Excellent.

[ And he's still completely unaware of Saber's what had to be almost naked hatred of him, now that he's made his identity so obvious. Mostly because he doesn't really care whether people like him or not. ]

hah other characters can join in so Saber won't try to toss him out the ship

…

[King of Heroes. He has called himself the King of Heroes.

She has let the rod slip away from her grasp when she hears his title. The fish has already been slain and it seems the ship is not damaged. The trashing only splashed her with water, but she seems unbothered by her dripping hair and clothes. She simply glares at the boy’s direction. Had he been another Heroic Spirit, she would have been frustrated by his dangerous conduct but glad that everything turned all right and looking forward the fish-served feast. But he isn't.

She calls his name with the dripping venom. She cannot trust this Hero who has tried to destroy the world once. How could she turn her back and ignore the tyrant’s actions?]

Archer. Are you trying to mock me?

[The battle might have ended for him, but she seems hostile enough to wish to fight him. She only stops her hand because of the others. She doesn't wish to endanger them or their mission, but she can’t trust Gilgamesh's presence won't already imperil them.

One thing is for sure, his innocent disguise fooled her and she’s infuriated he has mocked her like this.]

Why are you a child?
kingpika: (dramatic sigh)

[personal profile] kingpika 2015-07-01 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Gil just... sighed. He would have called it a case of mistaken identity, but that was clearly not it. She had reacted to figuring out Gilgamesh's identity, but Gil had no memory of ever meeting her. It looks like they had tripped over different incarnations of themselves as heroes summoned from all eras to all eras. ]

Archer is the class they tried to stuff me in for that worthless Holy Grail War, but there's no way any class or card could hold me. [ It's clear he has no love for the proceedings that led to his summoning, and less for the name. 'Archer' was little more than a reminder that he had half of himself taken away from him, after all. ] So I'd rather you just call me Gil, onee-san.

As for this child's form, that's just how I was summoned. I only had half of myself, so I came out half-grown. I quite like this form though, the adult Gilgamesh is so... severe, all the time. He's not nearly as much fun!

[The rocking ship is enough is finally force Orcelito out of the cabin and onto the deck. He arrives blinking in the sunlight, shakes his head, and wrinkles his nose at a peculiar smell – fish? Someone caught dinner? Well, that’s nice, but…

He takes in the scene, hovering between dismay and confusion. The now disappeared fish is the least of his concerns. He’s never seen Saber so upset. And why ever would a knight with her level of discipline be infuriated by a child?]

Saber. Gil. What is going on here?

[His voice is calm, but his expression is stern and he’s striding towards them with the attitude of someone who expects to be answered without delay.]
knight_king: (( distant ))

[personal profile] knight_king 2015-07-02 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
You were successfully summoned as Archer as far as I was aware.

[She enforces the Class on him, because she wants to distance herself from the familiar way she has been addressing him until now. The card mention makes her pause. So this boy… Gilgamesh is from Illyasviel's world? She wants to corroborate it, but his persistence wishing to be called Gil only makes her more insistent on her refusal.

It’s her second nature to reject anything he wants or offers. She is salvaging her pride as ruler after her mistake.]

I refuse. I cannot be so familiar with you. You will be Archer or Gilgamesh.

[He was summoned like a child, while that is relieving, it doesn't make her feel better. How can be possible that an actual good child grew up to be that tyrant? If he doesn't have his experiences as an adult, then perhaps she should not judge him, but if he is only pretending to be innocent? Her gaze is on him scrutinizing his expression until Orcelito interrupt her.

She has probably never looked as angry before. The way she's glaring at the innocent looking boy is one of pure scorn she has never showed against anyone.]

Nothing that will concern others. [She informs him, suppressing her dislike and meeting the young man's face with a neutral expression.] It is simply an unimportant matter that will not interrupt the mission.

[She let this boy stay with Illya and Shirou. She cannot forgive herself such foolishness. Her hard look returns when she looks at Gil's direction again.]

We will speak of this when this quest ends, until then, we will keep our distance.

[She cannot let her passionate response to control or dictate her actions. She knows they need six for this quest and any division would affect them. So she pushes her feelings aside and starts to walk away. She dislikes to feel that she's hiding or running, she's not scared, but she might lose focus if he's near.]

That's a pity, Saber. I was quite fond of you. [ Gil seemed angry for a moment, but now he mostly seems hurt. He's trying to put on his best poker face, but it's not working very well. Nine year olds tend to not be great actors. ]

But we'll leave it at that. [ But he was still a king, and a king had his own code to follow, and that meant not getting too hung up on whether some random subject cared for him. That way was petty, and led to madness.

So off he goes, stomping below board. ]
princeandscholar: (Questioning)

[personal profile] princeandscholar 2015-07-02 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Unimportant huh… Orcelito glances between the two of them, studying their body language and tone during this final exchange. He’s only just met Gil, but he’s known Saber a few months, and if she says it will not disrupt their mission, it won’t. He believes he can trust her maturity. Gil, on the other hand… he’s not sure. So Orcelito decides to handle this from the most neutral standpoint he can.]

I realize this is no concern of mine and I won’t inquire further. I only ask that you do indeed wait until the mission is complete. As long as we are outside the Tree, we are vulnerable to attack. I want everyone to be on guard, and not against each other.

[Following this exchange, he retreats to the forward deck under the pretense of watching their surroundings. In truth, he needs space to think. And amid his pondering, he catches Saber’s message over the amber. It… gives him more to think about.]
