[ The eighth floor had been unlocked for a while, but nobody has done anything with it, so Gil is now officially taking matters into his own hands. ]

Hi everyone, it's Gil! I'm taking charge of the inn now! Clapclapclap!

[ He actually does clap, and confetti fires out of the space behind him like a cannon. There's no actual confetti cannon of course, it's just the Gate of Babylon. ]

It's now called the Shuwa Shuwa Inn. If you have any complaints, come up with something better!

[ He stops and ponders one last thing. ]

I'm using the small rooms, the big one is for everyone, just give me a name and date and I'll book you in. None of you can afford to pay for a stay in an inn anyway.

[ Much less challenge his claim to ownership. At least, in terms of gold. ]

I don't really know why anyone would use the inn, but it's opened up so somebody has to take charge of it!

Oh, but if your room-mates are in the habit of hanging up rotting bugs, you should probably make a permanent room switch.

"And give up my bed?" Arj looks on the brink of a smirk. "I don't think so!"

"You could just get a new bed, you know? There are more than enough here." Gil shrugs. Well, stay wherever you want. No skin off his nose.

"Well obviously you didn't bother to count the rooms before you claimed them," Kit says a bit smugly. "Cause there's four, not two. And anyway, you can only use one at a time. What if other people want to use the others?"

Meanwhile, hello, fellow furry face. "Eew, who would hang ant flesh on the wall?"

Arj nods, the gesture clearly visible in the amber. He's counted four rooms, as well.

"Someone who can't tell the difference between a hunting trophy and food," he says. "Or what was once food. Those ant mandibles are impressive on the wall, but did nobody think to clean them out, first? Ugh."

Why would I use the rooms of my inn myself? Don't be silly.

I meant the other two rooms on the floor. I'm claiming the entire ninth floor.

Kit tilts her head curiously. "Those are houses, not rooms," Kit says. "And you can still only use one at a time, so what do you need two for?"

Kit makes a face at Arj's description. "Yuck...", she says. "Who decided that was a good idea?"

"That's not a house. Houses are... bigger." The house Gilgamesh is used to is a massive palace, including a huge vault that stores all the treasures in the world.

"And one's for storage, the other's for sleeping in, of course!"

Why does Gil need storage space when he has the Gate of Babylon, who knows?

"It is too a house," Kit says. "Rooms are part of a house so they'd be attached together if they were rooms. Those aren't."

She looks dubious about his claim to need the second house for storage. "How much stuff do you have with you that you need a whole other house to store it?", Kit says. "And if you do have that much stuff, why haven't I seen any of it laying around?"

"They're all attached to the tree, aren't they? The whole thing put together is about half the size of my old home. Corrected for size difference, of course." Gil nodded, neglecting to mention that his old house was a palace with more rooms than he knew what to do with.

"I have plenty of stuff! Weapons, furniture, old rugs, arts and craft... You just haven't seen it because I've been keeping it in my vault!"

"Pretty much everything here is attached to the tree," Kit says. "That doesn't mean it's all one thing." Whether or not Gil mentions it, Kit doesn't miss the implication, and can guess that he's very rich where he comes from.

"Well, if you already have a vault, why do you need somewhere else to store stuff?" Ah-ha, she's got you there!

"Isn't it all just one big Home Tree though? I always figured that's what it was." Gil shrugs visibly through the amber. He does consider the entire tree a single large building, and while apartments are a thing, in Gil's mind they're supposed to be a bit bigger.

At least two bedrooms! Studio apartments aren't real apartments!

"I don't want to dig around my vault all the time! It's a pain!"

Kit considers. "It's more like a little town," she says. "Just inside a tree rather than outside by itself. There's houses, baths, a place to get food, sort of a market, and now an inn. Even though I'm not sure if we'll get any visitors to use it."

"Maybe, but wouldn't the vault be safer?", Kit says. "I mean, your stuff is probly expensive, and it's not like the doors here really have locks or anything..."

"A home can have rooms, baths, pantries, and big fancy places for guests!" Gil nods, fairly sure that he had all of those things back in his palace. He's not quite sure about the market, but he just considers those fairies to be a strange anomaly.

"It would probably be safer, but it's a pain to dig through it when I need something specifically! And... it's not like gold is a problem here or anything."

"I guess...", Kit says, though she sounds a little uncertain. He thinks having those sorts of things all in one house- or palace, from the sound of it- are normal?

He does sort of have a point about the lack of use for gold here too. "Well, what if... what if something shows up that I dunno, eats gold, or something? I mean given that we're shrunk down to tiny size and living in a giant tree, anything can happen, right?" She admits that's kind of unlikely, but she's reluctant to give up the argument.

"A monster that eats gold...?" Gil scratches his chin, deep in thought for a moment before lighting up, amused by the prospect.

"I think that would make a great pet!" Yeah, he's not giving it up either. He has more than enough gold to feed a monster directly, as long as it's cool enough to be worth his time.

"Until you ran out of gold, anyway," Kit says. "Then what would you do with it? Even if your're really rich, it's not like gold grows on trees."

[kingpika]

"Don't be silly. Of course gold doesn't grow on trees, it's buried in the ground!" Gil smiles and sparkles, completely dismissing the possibility of running out. It's just not a thing that he believes can happen.

"It's just a saying," Kit says when he seemingly takes her literally. "It means that it's hard to get a hold of more of it if it ran out. Especially here; even if we could dig a mine, I don't think there'd be any gold right around a big tree."

[ She is just silently glaring at the slip of amber. Without Illyasviel, she does not have to be civil anymore, nor she has to worry about him to be after Shirou or Rin. All of them are gone. ]

[ Gil has no problem being at the centre of attention, and that always includes haters, but this is still awkward. ]

[ So much spite and venom when she addresses him. ]

It is like you to simply claim things without consulting us first.

I'd really prefer you don't use that name, but you're going to stick with it, aren't you?

If anybody else wanted to do something with this place, they'd have done so by now! I'm just taking care of the place and getting a room of my own!

It is your Class Name, is it not? We are not close for us to be on name basis.

You did not ask, the place was a suitable room for us to gather if the weather did not permit us to go outdoors.

The Archer Class Card is the creation of a Counterfeiter who wanted my power without any of the trouble of dealing with everything else. Needless to say, he failed quite spectacularly!

[ That Angelica managed to contain Gilgamesh's ego at all was no small feat, but even that wasn't enough to really be on par with Gil. ]

Besides, I was under the impression knights were supposed to respect the chosen names of others?

[ Something about a chivalrous code. ]

You can still use the inn! That's what it's here for, to be used!

[ She cannot speak of those cards because she knows very little of them, other what Illyasviel has shared, though she knows his ego will probably be too prevalent to be easily subsided. Her displeasure only grows when he tries to turn her sense of honor and her pride as knight against her. ]

Knights owe no favors or courtesy to tyrants.

[ She has at least keep the name-calling fairly civil for now. Were she be Sir Gawain... ]

I do not desire to ask you more favors, Gilgamesh. We are not many, we could utilize any other empty room for this purpose.

Tyrants?

[ Gil thinks over that title for a while. No matter how much he insists he's a child, the half-incarnation that led to his body still left him with all his memories from his entire lifetime intact, and the ego of the adult Gilgamesh still asserted itself on occasion. So he had more than a little idea what exactly Saber was referring to. ]

It's not like I don't get what my grown up self got up to. He tried to be a good king you know, but Enkidu was the only one who could keep me in check.

[ So once he was gone... All you had was a man too powerful, and too capable, always seeking new ways to amuse himself. It was tragic, but Gil isn't going to shed any tears over it. After all, no matter what Saber thinks, his is a legacy of heroism. It's nothing to get worked up about. ]

Are you claiming that you would be so weak-willed than your decisions rested on the hands of your companion?

[ She could call him many things, but she knows that feeble of will is never one of these. He is too arrogant and too confident to do not do as he pleased. ]

You chose that path. You said that was the path of kingship you chose. Because of this, you and I would never be anything but enemies.

No, that's probably the opposite. I was so strong, so implacable that nobody could ever step up to challenge my decisions. My one friend was made from the very stuff of the world to be my match, and as nobody could come close to me, nobody can come close to him.

[ He's talking about himself in a really detached way, but his expression softens every time it comes to Enkidu. Even though his personality is supposed to be that of Gil the child, the memories of Gilgamesh the man are so strong that, especially when it comes to Enkidu, that he sometimes shines through. ]

It's unfortunate that you think that way, but I can't think of you as an enemy, so this grudge can only possibly go one way.

Do not make excuses for your conduct, King of Heroes! [ This irritates her. ] It matters little to a king if their subjects can stand up against him or not. The king is a servant to their people. Their needs must always take priority over what the king wants. [ She repeats, calmer this time. She feels foolish to speak about this through the slip of amber. ] You simply did not think about your people.

[ That is why she cannot ever accept him or acknowledge him as king. Her eyes narrow imperceptibly, but she is silent for a moment when he comments he does not see her as an enemy.

Of course she's aware he might never dislike her.]

I do not have a grudge against you. If I did, I would not bring up these reasons as the source of my enmity over any personal misgivings. I am aware that you are not responsible for the actions of another; nevertheless, as long as your view of kingship remains the same, we are foes.

Even if you say that... [ Gil sighs ] I have all the memories from my entire life, and my friend will never leave my heart, but I'm not the me you know. I can try to express what he felt, but I can't really defend any of it. We're pretty different people, most of the time.

[ Yeah, that's right. Even Gil knows what Gilgamesh did was frequently ridiculous. Indeed, there was no defending some of his actions. ]

I say I'm the King of Heroes, but in truth the me right now isn't really a king at all. I'm too young to have taken the throne.

Even if you do not rule presently, you are still a king, or, in your case, a tyrant. You were born to be one.

If you do not feel to answer to his ideas, Archer, what is to you to be a king?

A king is someone with the power to do whatever he wants, isn't it? A good king will lead his people from strength to strength, and a bad king won't. Something like that, I haven't thought much about it.

[ If he's not drawing on the memories and powers of his older self, Gil is still nine years old in heart and body after all. How many nine year old children have put serious thought into their destinies? ]

So I guess a king would be the greatest hero. Someone who dreams of impossible things, overcomes challenges, and draws people to his side?

[ She has, Merlin and Ector have been strict with her training even if she's a child. ]

If a king does "whatever he wants", he is no king, but a tyrant.
