[ The man looking down into the amber appears confident, at a glance. Certainly, he's friendly, and he offers a grin. ]

So here's what I'm thinkin'.

We got threats here, don't we? Giant spiders, that sort of thing. Or average-sized spiders, but they're giant to us, that's for sure. There's probably more crap where that came from.

But now we're trying to get weapons for everybody. Ways for us all to defend ourselves.

[ He gestures at the golden image before him. ]

I got an offer for all of you. If you need help defending yourselves, I'll--I'll try and teach you.

But I might need a little help setting up a gym for it. Anyone got any ideas how we can go about that?

[ A beat. He hesitates, then says: ]

I'm Bucky, by the way. Nice to meet you all, even if it's not under the greatest of circumstances.

[ Or like he was made to fight, this Bucky thinks, strapped to a table and put through so much he let go of his own name. He quickens his pace, parrying rather than dodging, learning as much of the new movements as he can and employing them in return instead of plain blocking. He's more careful around the left arm - no telling how much power that thing really has, and it's too far out of his mind to consider he'll have a matching one soon. ]

We got bacon. Maybe next time there'll be munitions or weapons. Or Korra can metalbend somethin'.

I spoke to a man who was offering to help people learn flying--his name is Jae-Ha, I believe. He is also a recent arrival, but he knows how to fly already. Perhaps he knows something of aerial combat, too.

[Granted, he was offering it to ~ladies~, but he didn't seem averse when Fuu pointed out that gentlemen might need help too.]

I suppose I also have some experience in flight itself by now, but I spent most of the spider battle on foot, so it would be a lot of trial and error.

[ He speeds up a little to match--he's obviously not particularly challenged here. Not yet. ]

Somehow I don't see them bein' provided.

Korra, though. She's pretty good for a kid.

[ A punch connects, and he uses it to move back, give himself some space, before he comes back with faster jabs. ]

She remind you of anyone?

Teach them all? My, that's a rather tall order.

[ Not even trying to disguise the disbelief. ]

[ Rolling his eyes a bit. ]

Seems like most people here already know how to fight, at least a little. I wanna take care of the ones who don't so much.

[ He speeds up again to match, moving fluidly now, with less time to think about anything but the fight, so he answers-- ]

Maybe a little. I don't know. She's a kid, though.

Jae-Ha...I'll have to look him up. I got a feeling aerial combat's something we should all look into, here.

You were here for the spider battle? How did that go, anyway?

[soldieronwards]

No, I'm not, really.

But it's worth a shot.

Gentleman dove...

[ He can't help but laugh a bit at that turn of phrase. ]

Fair enough.

Korra? I've talked to her. She's all right.

That's right. I'm all man.

The arms thing is hardly less new to me. At least I'm recovering my dexterity.

[ He smiles, and then puts it out of his mind as he focuses on pushing back where he can. He's on the defensive and hopelessly outclassed: it's only the serum helping him keep up at all. Still, he's picking up, and he tries out a swift kick he saw his other self use earlier, not really intending for it to connect successfully, just see how it fits in with the rest of his movements. ]

Given that there were dozens of us-sized spiders everywhere, I have to say it went well--not that it was in any way pleasant, but as death-defying battles go it could have been worse.

I suppose so... How skilled are you? [ she's only ever seen him punching magic walls, remember. ]

I could offer my assistance, should you be interested in any additional teachers.

Yes, she seems to be sensible and resourceful.

Uh-huh.

I mean, it's a good sign we've got people like that here in the tree.

Yeah, that'd probably help. What kinda skills you got?

What about you? Are you this same type of sensible and resourceful person, Bucky?

[There's a brief pause. He isn't a bragging sort, or one to show off and draw attention. Even in knowing how high his skill level really is at, ego is the very last thing he even remotely cares about.]

Marksmanship [at a prodigious level, though he doesn't need to go that far], be it with a gun or otherwise. As a whole I've been trained in weapon use, along with hand to hand.

[Amongst other things, such as inhuman strength, speed, reflexes, and senses, but he'll leave it at that for now.]

I'd be fine working with any level.

[A knowing sort of smile. The kind that would probably do the Cheshire cat proud ]

Then what? You know they'll look to you. Depend on you. Or on your judgment at the very least.

Arms are pretty useful. You'll get used to 'em soon enough.
