[ The man looking down into the amber appears confident, at a glance. Certainly, he's friendly, and he offers a grin. ]

So here's what I'm thinkin'.

We got threats here, don't we? Giant spiders, that sort of thing. Or average-sized spiders, but they're giant to us, that's for sure. There's probably more crap where that came from.

But now we're trying to get weapons for everybody. Ways for us all to defend ourselves.

[ He gestures at the golden image before him. ]

I got an offer for all of you. If you need help defending yourselves, I'll--I'll try and teach you.

But I might need a little help setting up a gym for it. Anyone got any ideas how we can go about that?

[ A beat. He hesitates, then says: ]

I'm Bucky, by the way. Nice to meet you all, even if it's not under the greatest of circumstances.

Every single person that's here? There's... a lot of us, Mister Bucky.

[ She points out one obvious thing and jumps to the next. ] Which means not all of us are going to get along well. You sure it's a good idea to be passing out weapons and training?

[soldieronwards]

It's just Bucky.

And a lot of us already know how to fight, so it really ain't fair to those who don't, don't you think?

Life isn't meant to be fair. [ It'll be difficult for her to address a man not only by his first name (??), but without adding a honorific to it? Now she'll have to be rude. ]

Shouldn't it be left to those who know how to fight to defend those of us who are incapable of it?

[soldieronwards]

You got that wrong, girl--life isn't fair, but we're supposed to make it that way when we can.

And it's more fair if we don't gotta defend your sorry ass when you can do it yourself.
