amber ☆ 01
[ The man looking down into the amber appears confident, at a glance. Certainly, he's friendly, and he offers a grin. ]
So here's what I'm thinkin'.
We got threats here, don't we? Giant spiders, that sort of thing. Or average-sized spiders, but they're giant to us, that's for sure. There's probably more crap where that came from.
But now we're trying to get weapons for everybody. Ways for us all to defend ourselves.
[ He gestures at the golden image before him. ]
I got an offer for all of you. If you need help defending yourselves, I'll--I'll try and teach you.
But I might need a little help setting up a gym for it. Anyone got any ideas how we can go about that?
[ A beat. He hesitates, then says: ]
I'm Bucky, by the way. Nice to meet you all, even if it's not under the greatest of circumstances.

I'm a superhero now--or I was, I mean. We don't exactly get much in the way of breaks.
no subject
Awh, no outfit? You know we could work one o'those - what did they have, in nylon?
no subject
I'm not the flashy kind of superhero anymore, not since I gave up the--last outfit I had.
[ Oh, that was a close one. He almost said "the shield." ]
no subject
Anymore? [ rhetorical, it's just nice to know that after all the crap of the Winter Soldier this Bucky still picked himself up and kept going. ] Sounds like a story anyway, and a good one. You don't leave out the juicy details when you tell me.
no subject
I gotta leave out some details, pal. The future's a weird thing. There's no telling what'll be the same for you--and what won't.
no subject
Who'm I gonna tell?
no subject
Natasha. And then she'll kick my ass.
no subject
Hey, that's on me. You were keepin' something - so was she, mind - I saw an opening, and I took the shot.
no subject
[ He shifts into a combat stance himself, although it's nothing so specific, and he raises a brow. ]
You box?
no subject
[ Whatever they are, man's got a reason for keeping them, but this Bucky would still have pushed to know about the Winter Soldier. That was too deep a wound to pass unnoticed. ]
Yeah. You don't?
no subject
I grew up on a military base...I picked a lot of fights and won most of 'em, but I didn't get any real training until I was sixteen, and then it was--well, military.
no subject
It was a tossup my end. Steve had a habit of takin' on anybody, either I was too late and scrapin' him off the floor, or right there gettin' my ass handed t'me. [ a wry smile ] Boy was I glad I was tall by the time I was sixteen, fewer people messed with us.
no subject
[ He almost lets his guard down at that. Almost. But he blocks like it's second nature for him, which it probably is. ]
You grew up with Steve?
no subject
Yeah. Thought I mentioned it, sorry.
no subject
If you did, it slipped my mind--don't just focus on your fists, pal.
[ And he's aiming a short kick at the other man's ankle to unbalance him, then a jab at his shoulder while he's occupied with that. ]
no subject
[ He sways, but rights himself, quick enough to block. It's true: for a man of his size he fights very evasively, weaving and darting rather than standing sturdy and throwing punches with power. ]
no subject
[ Falling back into a defensive stance. He hasn't really given much away about his own style just yet--if anything, it simply seems well-rounded. But he's in teaching mode rather than really fighting, and that makes a difference. ]
Boxing's one thing on the city streets, but you gotta be more flexible in a place like this where your enemy could be any damn thing.
no subject
Yeah. Was quick enough against the spiders, but no tellin' what else is around. Ain't like we can just shoot 'em.
no subject
We could if we could get a supply of bullets. That seems like a tall order around here.
no subject
We got bacon. Maybe next time there'll be munitions or weapons. Or Korra can metalbend somethin'.
no subject
Somehow I don't see them bein' provided.
Korra, though. She's pretty good for a kid.
no subject
[ A punch connects, and he uses it to move back, give himself some space, before he comes back with faster jabs. ]
She remind you of anyone?
no subject
Maybe a little. I don't know. She's a kid, though.
no subject
no subject
Not bad.
[ --and try to catch the other man's leg and trip him while he's off-balance. Still, he's breathing harder than before at this point, and he's clearly starting to put real effort into this. ]
You're fast.
