Fuu inspected the new stream. She had already dropped a fragment of leaf in it, watching as it was borne into the mist, and was currently pondering if the same would happen to a person who tried floating in it. It would be a risky experiment--they'd need some kind of raft, and to be a strong swimmer since the tree hadn't been equipped with safety gear like lifevests. (Unless they found that on the next level. Which reminded her, they really needed to sort out that riddle.)

She heard the slithering behind her just in time. Instinct took control and she drew her sword even as she shouted in alarm at the sight of the huge black snake. The massive blade struck its snout and it drew back from its strike with a hiss. Were those fangs?! Fuu hurriedly shoved the gem on its ribbon down her shirt and sprang into the air once her wings appeared. Fenris probably had a point about not overusing their magic equipment, but better that than trying to outrun it or fight it off on her own.

She didn't slow down until she was sure she was too high to reach. The snake flicked its tongue and turned away, but it didn't go back out through the mist. Letting her sword disappear into her glove jewel, Fuu pulled out her amber slice to warn the others of today's danger.

[Fuu is looking quite harried and flustered. The background is moving as though she's flying, because that's what she's doing.

In spite of that, she puts on a big smile.]

Good morning, everyone! I hate to give alarming news, but there's a very large snake visiting us today. It might be poisonous. I think I saw fangs when it tried to eat me... oh, but I'm all right. I was able to give it quite a cut on its nose--hold on.

[The amber flips around to show the snake on the ground.]

I think we should really do something about this before one of us becomes Mr. Snake's breakfast.

[She looks calm but her voice is urgent. There is no need to say she will assist her and protect her. She is a knight, after all.]

[a massive Snake, was it...? at their size, it was like this girl said. it was only a matter of time before someone was killed by it. and while he was here, and he imagined others that would fight, would have something to say about it. he waits with Saber, looking on as he awaits the location so that he may spring into action to scout out the situation]

[She glances at his direction, guessing what he wants to do. She knows that asking this will be futile, but then she has to try. She can't stop him once he has resolved to do something. She doesn't want to either.]

Promise me that you will be careful.

[he was glad that Saber had come to understand. that being said, after his experience in the war, he'd grown wise to how most battles should be carried out. even now without a contract, here in this world she was definitely stronger than he was; she always had been. she was the sword. ~~and he was the sheath~~ with a clenched fist, Shirou stepped in beside her as he took hold of his gem, dragonfly wings tinted in shades of orange flashing forth]

Got it. We've handled worse, Saber. [he had doubts that unless there was someone else here more terrifying, people as dangerous as Gilgamesh or Berserker, the statement would hold true. thanks to his contract with Rin, his own fighting prowess had skyrocketed. now that he understood how everything worked with his reality marble. but it was just an overgrown snake. he wasn't thinking so far ahead and so wrecklessly as to use that. on that note...]

You'll be taking the front line, right? I'll support you and the others.

[there was no doubt that they'd have company]

[ She respects he pursuits his ideal, she understands his drive to choose this path, but she still... wants to protect him. She has a pledge to fulfill. She will be his sword and he will be under her protection. Even if there is contract any longer, her vow does not change. Her own gem is worn in a rudimentary makeshift necklace made of the veins of a leaf as chains, she places it under her clothes so make her translucent fairy wings spread from her back, flashing in silver and blue. ]

We should do something about your gem. If you lose it, you would fall and if you keep it, you will only have one fighting hand.

[ She observes, giving a hmm when he assures her he has handled worse. She knows the King of Heroes is more impressive opponent than a Snake, but it is a different one. One that is weakened by his ego. It is different to battle a sentient opponent than a monstrous beast. Shirou has no experience on the last enemy and she fears he will underestimate this battle.

When he agrees to support her and let her fight, she smiles pleased. ]

That's right... You made a necklace for yourself, right? I've been thinking if I should do the same thing. Or maybe...

[it'd probably take a while to get the right kind of properties for a bracer, even if he changed it using his magecraft. knowing they don't have a lot of time left and that they'd need to head out soon, Shirou pulls out his day gem. he'd always been holding it in his hand when he needed to fly. though that also had a lot to do with the fact that he had yet to fight someone here. now that Shirou needed to be prepared, he took Saber's perspective to heart. his wings weren't as beautiful as hers. a pair of dragonfly wings, but it was the colors of the sunset that flashed in them, shades of orange that made them decisively his. placing it against his wrist, he's decided for a temporary solution. this wasn't something that was already available to him... this- he would need to create from his own imagination]

Trace on.

[he closes his eyes. he doesn't need something elaborate. he needs something practical. he envisions a braclet, something sturdy that won't get in the way of his hand as he fights. something that has his gemstone embedded into it. a light material- this process isn't like his usual methods of pulling out a Noble Phantasm, therefore all the processes were his. it was manufactured in his reality marble all the same. though it cost more prana for something that was considered a defense armament, with Rin's backing, it wasn't so hard. it was actually rather impressive to see just how quickly Shirou was able to work and think of something. and by the time he's done, there's a slim metal bracelet keeping his gem stone against his person. a projection like this would only last for about a few hours, he imagined. that seemed to be more than enough time. once they dealt with this snake, he'd take the time to make something more permanent from what they had here in the tree. looking it over for a moment as he flexed his hands (it felt nice to have both of them while he could use his wings), his gaze returned to Saber with a look of determination]

[She strengthens it with her prana, that is why the slim thing has not snapped from the speed she frequently flies and travels afoot. She waits for Shirou to make his incantation, two pair of wings folding as he works his magecraft to shape the container of the gem. It marvels Saber to see the ease Shirou has in making things appear from the thin air. It is stored in his inner world, she reminds herself. The bracelet seems to be resistant as she studies it, Shirou also does not look tired or enduring any backlash from exhaustation from those projections.

Nodding, she unfurls the pair of wings she has kept folded and takes off to fly into the direction Fuu has instructed her while she keeps one eye on Shirou and another on the ground to spot the snake.]

If you want, I'll make something more sturdy for you sometime.

[it was a minor little thing, he imagined by comparison to her battle armor to materialize. but it was the thought that counts. his wings spread too, prepared to take off as the weight of the bracelet that he created doesn't feel bad at all. he'd work on it some more another time. for now, he follows behind Saber without another word as he prepares to weight he situation with her]

I'm above the stream, sort of circling the bend... I'm trying to make sure it sees me so it doesn't take an interest in the tree, but I'm not getting within striking range.
