| characters | Open to all!
| date/time | Friday, July 31
| location | Outside the Tree
| rating | PG? Maybe higher for language.
| summary | A cheerful field day followed by fleeing from weather.
After the adventure, Fuu supposed the need to hold some kind of competitive field day wasn't so great, but not everyone had been involved and it seemed they'd had a number of new arrivals in that time.
So it still seemed natural to give people an outlet to run around and compete without having to deal with life-or-death situations. Aerial races and a game of capture-the-flag would be a lot of fun, especially with the spate of youth that had struck.
[ooc: Feel free to make your own threads for racing, running around, and the like! I have to go to work and won't be able to tag or do the Lightning Oops thread 'till later so really don't be shy.]

For this reason, she was perched on a top branch, wings folded against her back and observing the field outside of the tree, trying to guard those she could or play a fair arbiter for their matches.

"Hello, Saber-san! You certainly do have a good view up here," she said. "Have you ever been in a field day before?"
...It was a slightly disingenuous question because Saber had probably been in tourneys before, which this would pale in comparison to. But it would still start a conversation.

In Fuyuki, she had been introduced to cage baseball and met defeat against the more experience Rin.
The reminder of her defeat soured her mood. Despite her apparent maturity, Arturia was a petty loser.

open;
"Haah... haah... Not enough. I still have to get even faster."
Of course, if she sees someone, she might wave them down for a race. That's what this whole thing was for, wasn't it?
Re: open;
But there's a gathering going on, and it seems that the tree and its inhabitants aren't the product of a bad hallucination after all, and maybe he ought to try getting to know them?
Which is how he comes across the child, running in determined loops, as if pressing herself to do better each time. That's something he understands.
He's careful when he steps forward. He hasn't been here long, but he's used to people startling at his appearance, even if it's laughable that such a lanky creature could cause any real damage. So he tries to look friendly as best he can, ears perked forward in interest. "What's that you're doing there?"

Wiping the sweat off her brow, she hitches another breath trying to keep herself calm as her lips tug upwards into a bright, calming smile. "I'm practicing my running, since we're going to compete. I'm going to try and win!" Her nostrils flare up with what seems to be sheer confidence as she pulls her arms in, fists clenched into tight balls at her sides.
"I've never seen you around here before, are you new?"

Capture-the-flag, NOW WITH COMBAT (open!)
When he'd had the premise of capture-the-flag explained to him, he'd immediately seen the potential. It'd sounded like a lot of fun, sure, but what would make it even better? Weapons, obviously! Why just chase after each other for a flag when they could face each other in honourable combat for it? He'd dubbed his improved version of the game "valiant-struggle-to-the-death-for-the-flag", and it was going to be awesome.
He'd leave the defence of his own team's flag to some of his teammates; offence had always been his stronger suit. The time had now come to venture forth, defeat his foes, locate and seize their flag, and attain glorious victory!
"Forth, Woodwhacker!" he addressed his twig, raising it aloft. "Our destiny awaits!"
no subject
"What destiny's that?" asks the somewhat skeptical-looking young man approaching from nearby. "It probably doesn't exactly await, you know. We're stuck in a tree. I...think."
he looks a bit uncertain for a moment, then visibly shakes it off.

It was nice to see Shirou-san too, though he seemed a little out of spirits. "We are stuck in a tree, but we seem to be making progress, and after a great deal of difficulty. Most likely, that's something to be pleased with."

At least Shirou doesn't seem to have been affected by the recent goings-on. Right now, he's investigating the events Fuu set up, a faint frown on his face.
"I'm not sure this is safe," he complains. "We have no idea if--"
If what? For some reason, he can't pin down just what the dangers of this place are. Something's a little off. He forces himself to ignore it--he's good at ignoring things that would otherwise bother him.
He just shakes his head. "Well, anyway, I'll keep an eye out for everyone. Is that all right?"
A close observer might note that he looks a little bit older, a little bit taller than Shirou was when last seen around the tree. Strange, that. Even more strange, while if someone with spiritual senses focuses directly upon him, he'll seem like a normal human being with just a bit of magical capability...if their attention wanders, he'll start to feel like a spirit of some kind. Like an optical illusion that only works when one looks directly at it.

She frowns as she studies him with widen eyes. He looks older and taller than he looked last night. Has he gotten a growth spurt overnight? And then, there is a vague presence of something that is not human. With so many becoming younger all of a sudden, could it be that he is— It does not matter, she thinks, interrupting her thoughts. Shirou is Shirou.
Her pledge to protect him remains unchanged, even if her contract is now with Illyasviel. It has been for his sake she has done it.
"I will assist you in this endeavor."
no subject
"Uh, Saber?" For a moment, looking at her, he feels terribly out of sorts. Like some fresh chance to fix an old wrong is presenting itself to him. But why should he feel like that? It's just Saber. Of course she's around here with him!
"It's all right," he says as he recovers. "Don't worry about it--you should go and have fun. I'll watch out for you from here, okay?"

After all, he is Emiya Shirou, regardless of the fact that he isn't, she insistently reminds herself, her older brother.
"Shirou-san," Illya beamed, already in her magical girl garb, Ruby in her dominant hand, "what are you up to?" It seemed that she hadn't heard his earlier words, too distracted from her running, as is evident by her heavy breathing.

Rin's already made a promise not to compete (because she's the exact kind of person who takes these things too seriously), but that doesn't keep her from mingling with the others. Upon seeing a familiar face, her mood lifts significantly and soon she's crossing to grab for his hand with both of her own.
She's a different person around Shirou than she is with others, especially Archer. Her mood is more upbeat and the smile she gives him is honest. Right now, she's more human than magus which is why she doesn't recognize anything as being off. Her fingers search for his in a manner meant to try locking their hands together, the girl being more affectionate than usual.
"We can watch out for everyone together, all right?"

Naturally, she was also keeping a weather eye on the participants for any sign of injury or undue fatigue, ready to swoop in with a Healing Wind if necessary--it wouldn't do for a fun event to end in broken bones or heat stroke, after all.

Though Jolene had been coerced out into the field by the prospect of seeing people do their thing, nothing had truly struck her as worthy of getting involved yet... even so, she missed the familiarity of sports from home. Road hockey, it turned out, was more complicated than it seemed when shrunk down to their size.
"Hey, Fuu," Jo shouted up. The blonde might be looking for injury or fatigue, but Jo was aiming a burr up at her in a high-sticked slap shot, "catch!"
so sorry it's so late!
No rush! I get the feeling the entire game's pretty lackadaisical.

(That, perhaps, the life stream itself might take the edge off his thirst for blood wasn't an idea that had even occurred to him, at least not yet.)
Still, though, it was hard to ignore the commotion that was going on outside, and Mika had to at least see what was going on before returning to his brooding. At the moment, he sat on the exposed top of a root at the base of the tree, watching what everyone else was up to.

So this is...an interesting find. He's not big on games or sports(He's a sore loser to any case.) but he can hang around and watch. Maybe he should contact Judar, this might give him something to do.
He's going to hang back here and watch to see how things go.]
Re: Open
At the moment, it seems better to watch the games unfold. The environment is too noise and this might be pose an obstacle for him if he wishes to concentrate. She flies down from her branch, landing nearby. She folds her wings against her back and greets him with a nod.]

She also came equipped to deal with the hot weather. Not only did she have her favorite parasol, but she had plucked a leaf from a wildflower and offered to fan anyone who was feeling the heat.
