“You are a cat too, aren’t you?” He gestures with a hand in the direction of House 12. It seems to be common knowledge that Wily-Kit lives there, so the reference should be obvious.

"... No, I'm not," he finally says, flatly. For one thing, he certainly doesn't have a tail!

“Oh. My apologies, then.” His frustration ebbs in the discomfiture. He looks around. “Could you direct me to the one responsible for this property? I need to speak to them.” Now that he has some clarification, he must find the one in charge and demand an explanation for this… fantastical circumstance.

"There isn't," Mika replies, not bothering to mince words. What would be the point? "Unless there's something at the top of the tree, but there's no way to get there."

How could there not be someone overseeing this building? Or why would the leader make himself inaccessible? This is not proper protocol! But Orcelito outranks them, so he should be able to order them to come down. The young prince looks again at the young man before him, taking note of the stance and weapon and coming to a reasonable conclusion.
“Are you a soldier here? Can you lead me to whomever holds the highest rank?” He’ll just climb the chain of command until he reaches someone he can reason with.

Granted, that much might not be entirely obvious from inside, but still.
"No. And there's no 'rank' here." At least, none that he knows of. Though he shouldn't be surprised at being mistaken for a soldier, given that he routinely carries his sword on his person.

Are you sure you are not a cat?Orcelito continues to be baffled. There cannot be a society without ranks – surely such a place would be utter chaos. Perhaps there is no organized military here? So this young man may be a mercenary.
Curbing his frustration, Orcelito tries again. “Then direct me to someone who is acknowledged as a leader in this place.” There may not be ranks, but one cannot gather a group of people in one place and not have one stand out as being a leader. Human nature is the same everywhere, isn’t it?

"There's no leader, no 'ranks', nothing like that. Just a bunch of... people, stuck here."
His hesitation as he spoke is less due to any problem on his part with considering some of the stranger inhabitants--such as Kit or Arj--"people", so much as he knows that he himself is very much not human anymore.

treetower without any organized society? What kind of disaster-waiting-to-happen is this? He’s struggling to cope with his frustration when a new thought occurs. Could this person be intentionally misleading him?
Orcelito observes the other for a moment, silent and tense. This person clearly is not human… they may be a monster wearing a human form. (That seems to be common around here, if the cat in the house was any indication.) Gathering his courage, Orcelito announces with finality, “I will not be misled. There is someone in charge here and I will find them.”
The words are in line with things the memory-sound Orcelito has said; climbing the Tree and finding the one responsible was always his goal. A year of memories missing hasn’t changed that determination.

It's not like Mika particularly cares.... And he'd noticed the look Orcelito gave him. If he isn't going to trust a vampire's word, then fine, it's not like it's any of Mika's business to try to convince him.
