[After taking a look at the items in the shop herself, there's one set in particular that catches her interest, and Korra's sure it could be helpful to many of the people living in the tree. If she hesitates before turning the amber on, it's only because she's already mentioned a few times that one element per bender is the norm in her world, and her offer is going to look suspicious when she's already used water bending very visibly. But when it comes to her own comfort over the needs of the people around her, Korra knows which one she would choose.

She kind of sucked at the incognito thing anyway, if she's honest.]

Hey, I know Saber's already mentioned the tree spirit's store, but there's something in there I wanted to talk about: the needles. I think most of us already figured out how hard finding stuff like metal is around here. [Korra fidgets, looking away from the amber for a moment.] A-anyway, the point is, if we pool our resources together and buy the needles, I can make some knives and daggers out of them.

After the surprise we had with the spiders, I think we should make sure as many of us have something to defend ourselves with as possible.

It's not magic. [Not called that, at least.] What's wrong with people using their abilities, anyway?

[Though she wants to say more about that, his tone makes her bite her tongue.]

Sounds like you know that from experience.

[No one gets bitter about things like that unless something's happened to them. Then again, Amon had managed to lie about his past too his many followers. Korra still doesn't let her guard down, even if she's curious to hear what this guy might say.]

I was a slave to a magister in a country ruled by mages. Corruption, blood magic and demonic sacrifices were dinner entertainment.

[He sounds even pricklier, glaring at Korra.]

Magic is always dangerous, and power sooner or later will ruin lives, no matter how pure and good the original intent may be.

[braavado]

[Her gaze softens, though the stubborn set of her mouth doesn't change. His tale is horrific, but she remembers someone else who had blamed magic, or bending, for the world's problems, too.]

I'm sorry you had to go through that. Power like that shouldn't be abused. But you can't blame everyone who has power, either. Most of us don't even come from the same world as you.

Sooner or later all those with power will end up using it for something they regret. Worlds do not matter.

[His voice is slightly softer, though.]
