[After taking a look at the items in the shop herself, there's one set in particular that catches her interest, and Korra's sure it could be helpful to many of the people living in the tree. If she hesitates before turning the amber on, it's only because she's already mentioned a few times that one element per bender is the norm in her world, and her offer is going to look suspicious when she's already used water bending very visibly. But when it comes to her own comfort over the needs of the people around her, Korra knows which one she would choose.

She kind of sucked at the incognito thing anyway, if she's honest.]

Hey, I know Saber's already mentioned the tree spirit's store, but there's something in there I wanted to talk about: the needles. I think most of us already figured out how hard finding stuff like metal is around here. [Korra fidgets, looking away from the amber for a moment.] A-anyway, the point is, if we pool our resources together and buy the needles, I can make some knives and daggers out of them.

After the surprise we had with the spiders, I think we should make sure as many of us have something to defend ourselves with as possible.

[That immediately makes Korra frown.]

I'd hope so. I mean, keeping everyone safe is the important thing here, when we're all living so close together. I'm sure there's someone around here who's willing to help out.

[Too optimistic?]

[ too optimistic indeed. riona stares at the amber screen for a long moment before shrugging. ] I hope so too. And hopefully there's more than one person willing.

[The pause doesn't go unnoticed and Korra just gives a sheepish sort of shrug in return.]

I mean...I'd offer to help, but I don't really know a lot about using weapons. If people want to learn other ways of fighting, maybe...

[Korra trails off uncertainly.]

[ and she simply pushes her lips to the side at that, but says nothing more. she's curious now instead and takes a second to think to herself. ] Other ways... There's physical combat. And magic. There's likely people who would rather choose one of those instead.

[ it won't be her magic added to the pile, not right now at least. but surely most of the people here have already seen what some of their fellow tree-dwellers can do. she's even met one girl who seems content to show off her abilities. ]

I know some hand-to-hand fighting. [Korra knows she is--was?--very good at what she does, but she could also admit she's relied on her bending a lot in her fights. She wonders if she should start changing that.]

If we have people wanting to learn that instead, I could help them get started. Even if I can't teach them the fancy stuff, the basics should help them pick up techniques later on. [She rattles on a little, drawing from her own learning experiences.]

How does that sound?

[ 'hand-to-hand'? is that what she calls it? riona supposes it gets the idea across. she'll commit the new term to memory. ]

You don't have to convince me, but it sounds well enough. Knowing the basics is invaluable. [ says liam, at least. ] It's those who want to learn that have the most say, I think.

[ she stares a little more. has she ever seen a woman as toned as korra is? she definitely looks like she can handle herself in a fight. so strange, but in a good way. ]
