Nightmare 2 || Amber post or Action

amber;

[ Pitch is, well, lounging. There's really no other word for it, and he just so happens to look like someone lounging half-under a warm kotatsu...only it's a bed. That's right you're looking at what appears to be fully grown man lounging underneath somebody's bed while he's making an amber post. ]

Do you know that everyone can see these? Doesn't matter where they are, if they check their magic looking glass, they can all see and hear me.

action;

[ And in case you were worried about it, yes that is an awfully familiar looking bed. Checking on your particular bed would reveal a certain Boogeyman lounging underneath, with his wings neatly folded along his back almost like an extra bit of cape with gold at the edges and fluffy bits between his shoulders. Do you sleep somewhere other than a bed? Well, no big deal. Pitch is just making use of this bed (like a creeper) for the moment. Hey, at least he's not in your space? ]

((OOC; Don't worry about a 'catch up' log, or any kind logging. I'm slower than frozen sap in Winter for tagging, but the plot lasts more than a week, so only worry about having fun, not being plot relevant, elsewise tag your comments amber or action please? Just so I can keep it all straight in my head ;'D ))

[Kit had been in the main part of the little house arranging some feathers by size to be made into quills, and maybe setting a few of the more colorful ones aside for herself, when she hears someone talking from her room.]

Hmm?

[Puts down the feathers to go and investigate. She doesn't see anyone at first, but when she realized that the voice was coming from under the bed. She crouches down to look underneath and sees a familiar someone.]

Pitch? How'd you get under my bed?

[Kit isn't angry, just confused. And curious. But the question implies more than just curiosity as to how he got into the house without her noticing.

Normally, the space under Kit's bed would be a very tight squeeze for someone Pitch's size. But while the space hasn't gotten any bigger, and Pitch certainly hasn't gotten any smaller- a good thing too, since no resident of the Tree, including Pitch, has the size to spare-, somehow, Pitch fits underneath quite comfortably, with a little room to spare.]

[Well, Kit supposes that makes sense. As much as anything about Pitch does anyway.]

Huh... wonder why? Never been much of anything under my bed, except for some dust. Or maybe a lost stocking or glove.

[Things under the bed had never been part of Thunderan children's lore, unfortunately for Pitch. Not to mention that here in the Tree's the first time in awhile she's had a proper bed for things to be under, unless one counts the bunk the kittens share in the Thundertank.]

I was thinking of putting the feathers I picked out under there for later though. So you might have to move then.

[It takes more than existing in a creepy fashion to ruffle Kit's fur. The suddenness of Pitch's movement does startle her, but it passes quickly as she stands up to talk to him.]

No. Orcelito's been collecting feathers to make quills, and I've been helping; I was actually just sorting them when I heard you in here. I like to pick out some of the more colorful ones so we can use them to make other things later, if we want.

[Kit brightens as well, realizing that she's caught his interest.]

I'd like to! But... I kinda don't know how. That's part of why I'm helping Orcelito; I'm hoping he'll teach me.

We need to make sure we have enough supplies though, first; making paper is hard work, and we can't use it all up just for me to practice on.

[Kit shakes her head.]

Mama and Papa were going to teach us reading and writing and things, but... stuff happened and they couldn't.

[She doesn't go into details, since she remembers how talk of parents offended him last time. But she also doesn't want him to think it was something that was deliberately neglected.]

And since then we've usually been too busy worrying about where our next meal is coming from or trying to stop Mumm-Ra for there to really be time for lessons.

But now that there is time, I really want to learn.

[Kit nods.]

Yeah, chalk and slates are what kids learn on at first at home. I don't think paper is so hard to make there, but it is expensive enough that you can't really waste it.

And I have a few charcoal sticks. But once they're gone, I don't know if I'll be able to get any more. There was a fire that somebody made, and Orcelito was getting charcoal from there to thicken the ink with. But when nobody solved the one riddle, the fire turned into a big, fat firefly and nobody's been able to relight the actual fire since.

[Kit listens to his instructions, then just... stares as he creates a quill out of sand. Black sand. She'd heard that black sand existed in certain distant locations, but she'd never seen it before, never mind seen someone make a quill out of it.

She watches him write something, then offer her the quill. She takes it carefully- its made of sand, after all, and might be fragile- and kneels down to carefully copy what Pitch wrote. The result isn't nearly so neat as the original, but at least it's recognizable.]

How's that?

[Kit watches as Pitch does a bit more writing. Either that's the longest word ever, or it's not a word, just letters. Given what Pitch says next, it seems to be the latter.]

I think so. Orcelito showed me the alphabet before, but not much else yet. I know what the letters are called at least.

[Kit names each letter as she points it out, going down the line, and allows Pitch to go on with the lesson where he will from there.

And she'll be glad to write about you when she learns, Pitch. Long as you don't mind that it's more about how cool you are than how scary.]
