Welcome Back, Adventurers!

The wagons rolled in, the ship anchored, and the wayward journey has ended back at the tree.

After putting the sword where it now belongs inside the life Stream, it's time for a little award, isn't it?

Appearing outside the tree after the sword has been inserted is normal-sized slice of chocolate cake, enough to feed everyone in tree and more!

Come relax, talk about your adventures and catch up. Enjoy your victory!

[Mention of the library has Ivaera growing wistful all over again.]

As am I, though it was difficult resisting the impulse to approach just to see the contents of his books. If there's one thing I truly miss about life here, it's having a library akin to that. What we could have learned if only there had been more time or opportunity....

Indeed... for one thing, we could have approximated what year we're in, or even found out what world we're on. [She looks thoughtful.] And Miss Abigail's father was quite absorbed in them... it didn't look like it's a library for pleasure, so the books probably contain plenty of important information in their own right.

[Fuu's undoubtedly right and that makes Ivaera pout a little, wondering what vital information slipped through their fingers. Though it's not really as though they could have found out without great risk of discovery.]

Indeed. Perhaps there will be other opportunities to venture beyond the mist and learn more of our general location. I believe I can safely say that we are not in Thedas, but beyond that, I don't know.

Truthfully, I think we may be on my own world of Earth--though not in my home country. [A most distressing fact.] I would quite like to go through the mist again as well. If we could get in there at night, we could stand a better chance of reading those huge books without being discovered.

[That gets her attention and she raises an eyebrow, very interested in learning about Earth and any similarities or contrasts...and yes, figuring out where they are, too.]

Oh, truly? How have you come to this conclusion? Did you see certain items or writing which indicated that we are on Earth?

[Ivaera did her best to note everything possible, though without the context Fuu would have, it's likely any special significance escaped her notice.]
monster_san: Thoughtful look (I've been wondering)

The architecture of the home and the clothing they wore all indicated Earth to me. So do the names 'Abigail' and 'Mittens'. So did the objects inside, and all the flora and fauna we've seen so far. [Flowers and trees seem to be common to various worlds, but Fuu doesn't think it likely that so many identifiable species evolved in multiple places.] There was also a particular object among those that Miss Abigail gave us--the color-changing ring was only invented about twenty years ago, in my time. I... suppose it could be a coincidence, and a magical artifact that coincidentally resembles a mood ring, but it would be so similar as to be almost impossible.

[She nods slowly, making a mental note of all that.]

The names and some of the flora and fauna are not unknown to me, and the architecture not entirely unfamiliar, but even so, it can't be Thedas. There was no reference to Andraste or the Chantry, and that would never happen, not unless they were tribal folk like the Avvar. Still, it's interesting that this Earth seems to be a common point for several folk and could yet be tying us together now. Hopefully, we will have more evidence to gather during the next excursion.
monster_san: Bemused look in armor (Maybe we can find a strategy guide)

[personal profile] monster_san 2015-08-04 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
If those things are so important in Thedas, then there surely would have been some hint of them. [Fuu taps her fingers on her cheek. She does know that Earth was the first planet by the Creator. Maybe that's why it seems to be so central.] I've learned that I'm not the only Earth native to travel to other lands, so I'm sure it's not a coincidence that there are so many of us from there. And if this is Earth itself, it would make even more sense--it must be easier to transport people from different parts of the same planet than from worlds of other realms.

[She nods in agreement at Ivaera saying they might have more evidence. Fuu is in definite favor of gathering that.]

[personal profile] circleprodigy 2015-08-04 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ivaera nods slowly, brow furrowed.]

You're right, that doesn't sound like much of a coincidence at all. Though now I have to wonder; why bring in those from other worlds at all? If it's easier to transport those from the same planet, doing anything else would seem a waste of resources.

Well, in my experience, Earth doesn't have many people who can use magic, and in the modern day we don't really send people out on quests. [Standing armies, yes. Small parties of adventuring specialists, no.] I didn't learn magic or get experience in real combat until I was brought to a different world.

You, Ivaera-san, seem to be an experienced campaigner. I'm sure if someone was to do an analysis, the expenditure of magic to bring you here would be repaid in full by your capability.
circleprodigy: (listening)

[personal profile] circleprodigy 2015-08-07 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Unable to deny any of that, Ivaera nods without resorting to false modesty, her tone simply matter-of-fact.]

I suppose so, but I admit more to expertise with blights and darkspawn than magical trees. I'll certainly do my best to live up to that, however.

Hm...an analysis would be rather interesting. I wonder what else we could learn, comparing traits of those willing to give information. I don't know if all others from beyond Earth have magic, but it's likely they have some knowledge or skill which could aid the Tree as well.
monster_san: Somewhat dismayed chibi (Ohhhhh dear)

[personal profile] monster_san 2015-08-11 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I do hope we don't need your expertise on those particular things. [magical plagues... not something anyone wants.]

We can certainly ask--conduct a survey, perhaps. I know Saber-san was interested in that, although mostly for practical purposes, and I've been keeping a mental list of what I've found out in conversation. A more organized effort could help us figure things out more fully.
circleprodigy: (curious)

[personal profile] circleprodigy 2015-08-13 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Ivaera simply nods to that first part, not particularly eager to elaborate on Blights, though her expression briefly grows hard, determined at the thought of resuming her duties here. If it comes to that...but for all involved, she hopes it won't.]

Exactly. Even if not all of it is immediately relevant, I believe learning about each other will make us a more effective group. Not only for quests, but in general. I'll be glad to assist with this effort, though I'm curious about your mental list so far?
