Glimmer, glitter, shine...

| summary | A flash of light, and a new adventure.

LIGHT

Warmth, love and kindness.
The Life Stream glimmers and glitters with joy, swirls of shimmering dust dancing around the ray of life.
It was time for new ones to test their wings.

One by one, new adventurers now arrive in the Tree. As one gain wings and rises to the second floor, another light brings in the next person. Soon, a steady stream of people from all kinds of worlds, times and realities come to join the others. Whether confused, angry, excited or scared, your arrival is welcomed with nothing but joy as the fireflies and glow worms descend to greet their new friends.

The Tree offers no explanation and no reason, but the truth is undeniable.

As you will soon realize, it isn't easy to be tiny.

"Probably to give us a place to sleep while they keep us here," she replies, blunt as ever. She doesn't really see a point in mincing her words when everyone's going to realize it themselves sooner or later.

"Anything else is as much of a mystery to me as it probably is to you." Korra gestures vaguely at the house. "It looks like they just made this place and dropped us here to figure things out on our own."

That sort of bluntness might have come off as rude to some other people but for Link, who had grown accustomed to getting roundabout or incomplete answers, it's a bit of a relief. Or at least a nice change of pace. Even if it meant they were all in the dark about their situation.

"At least we aren't forced to figure things out on our own?"

So chipper, even as he checks out the parts of the house not occupied by Korra. Hes 'not so rude as to go through other people's personal effects, so at least she doesn't need to worry about her privacy. Now if there were pots in the house...

"Yeah. I guess there's that, at least," Korra says softly. It's going to be interesting, living in such close quarters with a bunch of strangers, especially when she's been on her own for so long.

She glances at him, more curious than wary now, as he examines the rest of the house. "Did you find anything interesting while you were looking around the tree?" Though she's not certain if he's checked anywhere else yet, she figures it's worth asking.

"Hm?"

Link looks out from behind one of the screens and stops to consider the stuff he's seen thus far. Many of the places in the tree were open areas and easily inspected. The reason he's been going through the houses had mostly been because they had been locked off from the main area.

So of course he was a little curious to see if there was anything good hidden in them. Unfortunately...

"They're all empty," He answers. Then stops to reconsider what he said because that isn't right, is it? "They're the same. Minus..." He gestures to Korra, indicating the people in each house was different even though the contents were the same.

There was one thing though... He points up.

"But the upper floors are sealed away."

He doesn't mention the sounds that can be heard coming from the aforementioned floors.

Korra nods slowly. Though she hadn't inspected the houses as thoroughly as this guy had, she'd skimmed them and noticed the same.

"The fourth floor, right? There's this web over the opening, kind of like the one that's on the first floor," She says, thinking of the way she couldn't get the new web to move either. Her lips tug down into a frown as she thinks. "I wonder what's up there."

It's curious, the way the rest of the tree is blocked off like this, when someone obviously expects her and the others to make themselves at home here.

"There's usually a key," he starts, "Or something must be done before the seal is undone."

He says this like it's the most common thing in the world. Which, to be fair, was true of Hyrule and the Twilight Realm. But he's forgotten again that not all realms worked the same as the ones he's visited. Link just assumes that Korra would figure out that his reason for inspecting everyone's(?) houses was for the purpose of finding a way through the web. Actually, now that he thinks about it-

"... Have you passed through the web downstairs?"

Because he hasn't yet.
braavado: (Maybe it's messing with YOUR head)

[personal profile] braavado 2015-03-23 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I have. It let me through the second timet." That had been after she gave the rest of the tree a cursory sort of look over, and Korra wonders if that has something to do with it. The web had not budged at all the first time she tried.

"There's not a lot to see outside, though. There's this weird mist that's keeping us in."
twilightlegend: (Touch your feathers to the breeze)

[personal profile] twilightlegend 2015-03-25 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Hm... That's strange. But at least now it means that he could explore outside as well- Oh.

"Mist?"

The first thing he thinks of is the Twilight curtain that fell over the parts of Hyrule that were afflicted. Perhaps this fog worked in a similar way? In which case, they would probably need someone from this realm to help them pass through. Assuming there are natives other than the bugs.

Link frowns and pulls on his earring.

"Maybe we need to find someone who hails from this place?"
braavado: (I'll do what I can to help)

[personal profile] braavado 2015-03-28 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"I thought that, too," Korra replies. "But everyone I've talked to so far is like us--new. If there is anyone from this place around, they're doing a good job of hiding themselves."

She refuses to think about how the houses and everything had been made just for them. There has to be some way to get answers.

He hums thoughtfully, brows furrowed in thought. If no one was from here then what was all this then? There were stories in Hyrule and Ordon of guardian trees but... Why would it pull so many people here just to leave them wondering what was happening?

Hm.

"We aren't getting anywhere, are we?"

It comes out sounding like someone musing to themselves rather than actual disappointment. If whoever wanted them there wasn't going to be forthcoming then--

"Maybe we just need to wait and see."
braavado: (I can't get back into the groove)

She gives him a small smile, though it looks a little worried and forced.

"Yeah, it doesn't look like we have much of a choice."

Korra sighs softly, then walks a little closer to him. "I'm Korra," she tells him, figuring there's no point in hiding her name if no one actually knows her here. Except Kuvira, but that's another matter entirely.

"...?"

Link looks a little confused at the forced smile, seemingly more used to the idea of being left high and dry by greater powers until they felt it was time to share information. And she's right; he doesn't even bat an eye when she introduces herself. Not to say that she couldn't have been important in some way - he would like to think that everyone here was here for a reason rather than here for no purpose at all - but their pasts were varied and... And he really wasn't one who pried into the lives of others.

He returns the smile, calmer and confident in the way that he had been when Midna had confided her past to him, and holds out a hand to her.

"I'm Link."
braavado: (What about when you defeated Ozai?)

This time there's no hesitation as she takes his hand and gives him a firm shake. Though she hadn't been too thrilled when she first got here, Korra's starting to see the possibilities. She's tried to recover on her own terms, but perhaps a change of scenery like this might actually be helpful.

"There's not a lot of us around," Korra says, recalling how many faces she's seen so far that day. "We'll probably be helping each other out until we figure out how to get out of here."

Link looks a little puzzled by the comment about there not being that many of them - because maybe Korra was more accustomed to working in a team? - but nods in agreement nonetheless. Such things were much easier to solve when there were more heads working on it. His experience with the Resistance Group in Hyrule Castle Town was proof enough of that.

He paused before giving her a short bow and waving farewell. There's more exploration to be done (probably) and Link wouldn't want to keep intruding on someone else's house.
