Glimmer, glitter, shine...

| characters | Everyone!

| summary | A flash of light, and a new adventure.

LIGHT

Warmth, love and kindness.
The Life Stream glimmers and glitters with joy, swirls of shimmering dust dancing around the ray of life.
It was time for new ones to test their wings.

One by one, new adventurers now arrive in the Tree. As one gain wings and rises to the second floor, another light brings in the next person. Soon, a steady stream of people from all kinds of worlds, times and realities come to join the others. Whether confused, angry, excited or scared, your arrival is welcomed with nothing but joy as the fireflies and glow worms descend to greet their new friends.

The Tree offers no explanation and no reason, but the truth is undeniable.

As you will soon realize, it isn't easy to be tiny.

"It's a very great pleasure to meet you, Tsuruhime!" he tells her gallantly, and makes a gesture like a bow with his head and neck, spreading his... arms a little for effect.

"That's right, I'm as new come as you or any of the others. If anybirdie here's secretly responsible for all this, they should come forwards!" A pause, theatrical. "Hmm. Maybe later, huh?"
snowandarrow: (β™‘ how very dare you!)

sorry this took so long!

"It's nice to meet you too!" She smiles and gives a polite, little bow of her own.

Buuut her demeanor changes pretty quickly after that. She's not so oblivious she doesn't catch the touch of humor in his words, and she's not necessarily mad on her own behalf (not yet, at least), but seeing so many people uprooted like this, she can't help but be a bit upset. And offended. Mostly offended.

"They better! It's terrible to take people from their homes," she huffs. "And cowardly, too, if they're hiding! They don't have any honor at all."

He watches her with unreadable bird eyes, round and dark, and bobs his head in a nod. "Mmm. Quite right! On top of that it's rude, doing this sort of thing without asking! This fellow will need a talking to."

"It is very rude! He'll have to be punished!" It's pretty clear from the way she sounds that she's used to scolding people. She almost sounds like a mom--as long as you can ignore her young age, girlish voice, and how ridiculously petite she is. Who cares about things like that anyway! She puts her hands on her hips and continues. "And then he must repent for his deplorable actions and send us all back home! Hmph!"

She reminds him a little of Hiyoko, though smaller and not as powerful-looking, and a little of his brother. "He should, he really should! If you want to set up weird tiny fairy parties in some tree you need to ask first."
snowandarrow: (β™‘ a horse? but i thought...)

"It's the only decent thi-- Wait, what's a fairy?" She looks and sounds genuinely puzzled. Be it the time period she's from or her lack of contact with the outside world, the word means nothing to her.

"They're more a thing in the West," he tells her. "Certain cultures there have myths about tiny, magical humanoids with wings. They started as more fearsome things, then the stories about them became more cute."
snowandarrow: (β™‘ oh my!)

"The West? Like Kyushu? How strange! I didn't know the legends were so different there," she says, surprised--and without the slightest hint of doubt that her conclusion is anything but correct. These things happen when you've been confined to a shrine your entire life.
espigeonage: (Π–I wish I knew a girl)

"More Western than that," he says lightly. "Across the sea and hundreds upon hundreds of miles overland, where people speak an entirely different language and eat entirely different foods."
snowandarrow: (β™‘ oh my!)

She has an awed look on her face when he tells her that. She's been hidden in her shrine for so long--does everyone else know? If only Magoichi were here, she could explain everything.

"Wow... I never knew! Could you tell me more?"
