| summary | A flash of light, and a new adventure.

LIGHT

Warmth, love and kindness.
The Life Stream glimmers and glitters with joy, swirls of shimmering dust dancing around the ray of life.
It was time for new ones to test their wings.

One by one, new adventurers now arrive in the Tree. As one gain wings and rises to the second floor, another light brings in the next person. Soon, a steady stream of people from all kinds of worlds, times and realities come to join the others. Whether confused, angry, excited or scared, your arrival is welcomed with nothing but joy as the fireflies and glow worms descend to greet their new friends.

The Tree offers no explanation and no reason, but the truth is undeniable.

As you will soon realize, it isn't easy to be tiny.

As some hours had passed and it didn't appear they would return home yet, Yuuya had decided to claim one of the houses before he found himself without. Just because he was a bird did not mean he wanted to neglect creature comforts. Besides, sometimes even he liked quiet. He lounged as if sunbathing on a mushroom-couch, his moth-wings nonexistent for now, and was carefully using his new fingers on his phone when Link appeared.

Yuuya raised his head, folding a half-winged arm to hide the phone. "Well, and hello to you as well! Shall I ask if you're selling anything?"

... A bird! Goddess, he wasn't expecting to run into such a large sized bird here, especially the one the size of a kargarok. And it spoke too! ... It spoke and he's not a wolf.

Maybe this was an oversized Ooccoo?

Instead, Link just shook his head no in response to the question. He was just exploring, really, and didn't expect the rooms to have actually had people (and birds!) in them so quickly. Or maybe he had come in later than everyone else? Hmmm.

... The bird looked too soft to be an Ooccoo but it's certainly no Cucco.

"Um..." he looked around, a little sheepish because how would one go about asking what species someone else was? The answer was to do it in one, no time for indecision, there were animals to be petted. Were Yuuya smaller, Link might have attempted to pick him up

"You wouldn't happen to be an Ooccoo...?"

There was nothing human about his face, and he didn't have distressing breast-looking plumage. Yuuya became increasingly amused by the intruder's bewilderment. was he that handsome, that no one knew what to say without fumbling around first?

"Sorry! I'm a gentleman dove, or a fantailed pigeon, take your pick. Come in, then, it's akward having you hover at the door there."

Who knows? Maybe Yuuya was an alternate species, Link wouldn't judge. After running into Ooccoo, Zora, Gorons and Twili he really doesn't seem to mind... At least, once the initial shock of walking into the room with a huge bird has worn off. Or rather, once the shock of the giant bird and an immediate threat of being attacked had passed. What could he say? Hyrule was a strange place.

... A gentleman dove?

He jumped a little when he realized that he was being rude, hanging around the door like this. So he closed it behind him and motioned into the room. Would he mind if Link took a look around?

"Go ahead," he said, making a shruglike gesture. Though Yuuya's wings weren't what they used to be, his chest is still blocky and massive. "Though you won't find anything here that's not in the others! Apart from me, I suppose. And you! Who are you, so I don't have to come up with a nickname?"
twilightlegend: (So take a breath of myth and mystery)

[personal profile] twilightlegend 2015-03-17 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, Link has a habit of looking through people's houses regardless of whether there's anything particularly interesting or not. Houses were neat and the layout of this one seemed to be as free for adjustment as the others. Huh...

The Ordonian is doing a quick loop around the room when Yuuya asked about his name- Oh, right, he should... He ought to introduce himself, shouldn't he? Not that he wasn't used to being assigned nicknames randomly but it is nice to be asked first for a change.

"Link."

Is that even useful?
espigeonage: (☍But I've got nothing to say)

[personal profile] espigeonage 2015-03-17 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Another one? He didn't look enough like the first that sharp bird eyes could confuse them. They were similar, though.

"And I'm Yuuya." He watched Link trot about the space. Humans, where Yuuya comes from, usually lacked in social graces, and Link looked much more like a human than not. At any rate, Yuuya was easygoing. "Is there something you're looking for?"
twilightlegend: (Wide eyes will always brighten the blue)

[personal profile] twilightlegend 2015-03-18 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oops. Surprise~!?

'Yuuya'? That was an easy to remember name! Link was relieved that it wasn't some strange pronunciation that he would have to stumble over and potentially offend this nice bird. He looked up from where he was inspecting the furniture. Was there something he was looking for?

... Somehow, 'pots' and 'bugs' seem like a bad idea.

"No, just exploring," there was a slightly lopsided smile as he gestured around. "This place looks a lot like the houses of my home."
espigeonage: (ЖI wish I knew a girl)

[personal profile] espigeonage 2015-03-18 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Link seemed slightly guilty answering. Yuuya filed that away and ruffled up his feathers in a friendly 'expression'. "Do you live in a tree, or do you speak of this charmingly rustic furniture?" Including chairs he couldn't easily use, he'd seen.
twilightlegend: (Wide eyes will always brighten the blue)

[personal profile] twilightlegend 2015-03-18 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
S-So fluffy... If Link looked a little guilty before, he looked incredibly distracted by the 'friendly' gesture. Yuuya fluffing himself up made him look like a Cucoo and it was a shame he was the size of a Kargarok because the urge to pick him up--

Ah- Right. Questions.

"Ah..." Link stopped to consider how to answer. "Many of the houses in Ordon were constructed from old tree trunks. Nothing as big as this, but similar."

He stopped, then added; "There is a tree in Faron Woods similar to this in size as well."
espigeonage: (☊If I could for you I would do)

[personal profile] espigeonage 2015-03-19 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Wickedly, Yuuya shifted a little and pulled his neck in against himself, endeavoring to look just as round and soft as he could.

"I've heard of tree-houses. Interesting! I hadn't thought they could get this big, though! I was outside long enough to see that this is a living tree, leaves and branches and all. Have you toured the rest of this charming setting?"

[personal profile] twilightlegend 2015-03-19 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
... How evil!

"..."

It seemed that Link reached the limit for himself. Being raised in a farming village in the middle of the woods, he was more than used to encountering various different animals be they the goats that were the livelihood of the village, the dogs and cats that people kept or the one friendly hawk that flew over Ordon. Considering who his predecessors were, perhaps it was fate that made this sort of temptation impossible to resist.

So he quietly walked over to where Yuuya was, reached out and... Started gently petting the puffed out feathers. Soft! Fluffy!!

It would seem that the question didn't even register with the boy, who looked about as happy as he usually did when he was petting animals.
espigeonage: (۝My friend will have to be me)

[personal profile] espigeonage 2015-03-20 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yuuya's tail shook from side to side, swishing in a bird's silent laugh. He was very soft with his feathers fluffed, and quite warm, and he was a little incredulous. This had never happened before!

Well, new experience or not he wasn't against being preened by strangers.

"My, how forwards! Tug on my beak while you're here," he suggested. The fleshy nostril-covers at its base were the kind of soft that fingers can't completely pick up on.
twilightlegend: (Chase your dreams and remember me)

[personal profile] twilightlegend 2015-03-20 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
He's probably looking like a little kid allowed to pet a goat for the first time. New animal! So soft, so fluffy--

Oh-

The speed at which Link pulled his hand back might have been remarkable if his ears weren't as red as they were. Oh no, that was rude, wasn't it? Rusl would reprimand him for certain. When the comment about tugging on the bird's beak registered in his head, he grimaced slightly before uttering a quiet apology as he took a step back.

He wasn't nearly so bold. And wouldn't that be like pulling on someone's nose? That seemed like something reserved for close friends!
espigeonage: (ѦI wish I had a friend)

[personal profile] espigeonage 2015-03-20 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
More tail-shaking. Clearly, Link's impulse control had something to be desired. And it was always amusing to him how humans flushed their facial skin to express emotion. If only he could change colors too!

"Does this mean you'll let me preen your hair?" he asks brightly. "For fairness's sake. Oh, you can relax. I'm not offended. Surprised, that was all."
twilightlegend: (So take a breath of myth and mystery)

[personal profile] twilightlegend 2015-03-20 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
So he's an impulsive wolf with his head in the clouds. He might have made it out of the room without ruffling Yuuya's feathers if the other hadn't endeavoured to make himself look so much like a lovely down pillow! ... Maybe.

But hearing that the other wasn't offended was good. So in exchange: "If you'd like?"

The look on his face read that he didn't think that he'd be halfway near as nice to pet. Now, if he could turn into a wolf...
espigeonage: (☊Will still be his friend)

[personal profile] espigeonage 2015-03-21 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
It is difficult to resist that fluff, but most people Yuuya knows can restrain themselves to a yearning look, maybe starting to reach out. "Excellent! I will spring it on you sometime. Just to be fair, see."

"You don't have a lot of bird friends, do you?"
twilightlegend: (So take a breath of myth and mystery)

[personal profile] twilightlegend 2015-03-21 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
"... None quite so large," Link replied. As far as bird friends were concerned, the best he could offer were the many cucoos that wandered the kingdom of Hyrule and the few hawks that flew around as well.

He tries not to think about the shopkeeping birds that have robbed him of rupees on more than one occasion. If only Plumm's minigame wasn't so addictive!
espigeonage: (☊In the morning)

[personal profile] espigeonage 2015-03-21 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, well! It looks like I'm larger compared to you guys here, anyway. Normally I might be around waist-height on a lot of humans, if I stretched up a bit." Here... he got off his mushroom couch and raised up, as vertical as he could get his body to stand there.

Yuuya was taller than Link, about the height of tall-but-not-astonishingly-so people elsewhere in the tree. He took up more space, though.
twilightlegend: (And take to the sky)

[personal profile] twilightlegend 2015-03-22 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone was taller than Link though. Even without the height difference that this place brought about, a bird that was about waist high on anyone was still an incredibly large bird. Especially in Hyrule, when most creatures that size were usually hostile!

...

And it seemed that the hero got distracted again, reaching out to pet Yuuya's side when the other stands up. It was a small wonder Midna ever managed to get this boy to finish anything, if he could be so easily distracted.
espigeonage: (Ѧthrough my hair and kiss me)

[personal profile] espigeonage 2015-03-22 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
All right, two could play at that. Yuuya leaned his head and neck down and used his pink-tinged beak to try and tug lightly at the lock of Link's hair that fell before his weird pointy ear. He made sure to move with deliberation. No telling how some people will startle.
twilightlegend: (So bid the forest floor good-bye)

[personal profile] twilightlegend 2015-03-23 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, Midna's gotten him conditioned to randomly getting his actual ears pulled on so Link simply blinked before stopping himself when he felt the other tug on his hair. Even if he looked a little disappointed along with apologetic. If Yuuya was hoping for a dramatic reaction, perhaps it would be best to aim for the fleshy bits...

Not that Link could recommend it. Goodness no, he only had a red potion and a bottle of Yeto's soup now; health was important to maintain!

But he should... Probably get going. Before his resolve broke down again. So Link gave Yuuya short bow, followed by a 'thank you for letting me look around.' Yes, best to go before he got the urge to pet feathers again.
espigeonage: (ѦSomeone to steal me)

[personal profile] espigeonage 2015-03-23 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
These were some strange, strange boys. Both the Links seemed harmless, for heavily-armed humans, at least. He settled back on his 'couch', making himself comfortable.

"All right. Come visit sometime, if you remember to knock!"
