| summary | A flash of light, and a new adventure.

LIGHT

Warmth, love and kindness.
The Life Stream glimmers and glitters with joy, swirls of shimmering dust dancing around the ray of life.
It was time for new ones to test their wings.

One by one, new adventurers now arrive in the Tree. As one gain wings and rises to the second floor, another light brings in the next person. Soon, a steady stream of people from all kinds of worlds, times and realities come to join the others. Whether confused, angry, excited or scared, your arrival is welcomed with nothing but joy as the fireflies and glow worms descend to greet their new friends.

The Tree offers no explanation and no reason, but the truth is undeniable.

As you will soon realize, it isn't easy to be tiny.

That was some measure of reassurance. Fuu didn't want to add 'accidentally flew into the bugzapping magic light' to her mental list of new ways to die.

She followed Korra towards it. Not 'dangerous', but that statement was highly qualified, wasn't it... Fuu pressed her fingertips against her chin and then reached out to brush them against the glow. Her eyes went wide at the sensation. She couldn't identify it in exact words: life, heat, energy--Fuu withdrew her arm quickly.

"Oh my. That's really quite something."

Korra watched her, not at all surprised by her reaction.

"Yeah. It is," Korra agreed, lifting a hand as if to touch it herself. But she stopped herself, letting her hand drop back to her side after a second. "I wouldn't be surprised if it is the power source, like you said."

"I wonder... who made the tree like this?" Fuu said. "Of course, that also ties into why we're here. But if we learned more about this, we might have answers to that."

She laughed nervously and cupped her face in one hand--her fingers were still warm from the light. "But I may be getting ahead of myself. I'm not an expert in magic."

"Neither am I." Korra's face was still turned toward the light stream, gaze contemplative. "I mean, there's spirits and bending, but I don't think that's what we're dealing with here."

There was another side-glance at Fuu now, another check to see if she had linked her name to "spirits" and "bending". If not, then Korra figured her identity was safe with Fuu in particular, for now.

"I think we must have different points of reference," Fuu said. "I know about magic, and a little about spirits, I suppose, but the term 'bending' is new for me."

She did notice the little side-glance and again wondered what Korra was nervous about, but she wasn't going to pry.

Her expression clears when the recognition doesn't come, and suddenly it's a little easier to breathe. There's a whole new set of problems to deal with right now, but at least she doesn't have to be hiding as much as she thought she would.

"You've never heard of bending?" That's a little worrying. There's no way that's possible in her own world, with bending so common everywhere. Which leaves her with one way to check her new suspicion. "I'm guessing places like the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Water Tribes aren't familiar to you either."
