| summary | A flash of light, and a new adventure.

LIGHT

Warmth, love and kindness.
The Life Stream glimmers and glitters with joy, swirls of shimmering dust dancing around the ray of life.
It was time for new ones to test their wings.

One by one, new adventurers now arrive in the Tree. As one gain wings and rises to the second floor, another light brings in the next person. Soon, a steady stream of people from all kinds of worlds, times and realities come to join the others. Whether confused, angry, excited or scared, your arrival is welcomed with nothing but joy as the fireflies and glow worms descend to greet their new friends.

The Tree offers no explanation and no reason, but the truth is undeniable.

As you will soon realize, it isn't easy to be tiny.

Safer? We're in a wooden room, are we not? I light lamps in the castle all the time and it's perfectly safe.

[The whole "tree" thing hasn't sunk in yet. It's a strange wooden room to Naotora because she sees a room and the walls are made of wood. End of story. The fact that there is no paneling and the hole in the center of the room ascends as far as the eye can see is beside the point.]

I'm sure there must be some fuel somewhere. Whose castle is this, anyway?

[... how--]

[this must be how Midna felt when Link asked her questions that seemed obvious to her. But he gives Naotora a wry smile before pointing at a wall]

It's not a castle. Have you taken time to explore yet?

I found my way to this floor, but that's as far as I've been. Why, is there something somewhere else that makes it clear that it's not a castle? It looks more or less like one to me.

[Considering how loose the definition of "castle" is where she comes from. Her own castle is one of the few that looks like a reasonable person would expect one to. One that looks exactly like this wouldn't be out of place in the slightest. In fact, designs for something similar probably exist in the hands of the Anegakouji, if they haven't actually built one already.]

[Link was much more accustomed to stone walls and lavish decorations indicating that it was a castle. To him, a place like this was nothing more than a home... Albeit, a very large one in this case]

Outside. This place is just a tree.

[the way he says this makes it sound like it's the most natural jump in logic. Of course people can live in trees; most of his village was composed of houses carved out of trees whose trunks were large enough to fit families of four or more with room for kitchens and stores]

So using fire is a little dangerous...

Takeda has giant fire pits in his castle and the walls are made mostly of wood. I don't see why a little lamp would be an issue.

[As usual, she's gotten stuck on something completely irrelevant. Still, it doesn't make any sense to her, especially considering Takeda and his stupid fire pits. Who builds a place like that, anyway? At least this place is a little homey.]

['Takeda'? Was that a foreign name?]

Not the lamp, the flame.

[he's not very good at this, is he? He mumbles something about 'how to explain' because while he's not the best at immediately recognizing when he's in trouble, he's not above recognizing when he is]

The lamp is what you put the flame in so it doesn't set anything else on fire, right? Lamps don't catch themselves on fire, after all. If you put fire in a lamp, everything should be alright.

[This is about Naotora's level of logic. It makes perfect sense to her.]
