starting from the bottom
| characters | Shirou Emiya & Whomever wants to help with distributing the food and making a storage room!
| date/time | Backdated to April 23rd
| location | Inside the Tree, Second Floor
| rating | G (doubt that'll change but can shift accordingly!)
| summary | With egg & bacon in tow, Shirou tries to share what he can amongst anyone who may want something different from the typical food at the altar. They'll need to find a way to store the leftovers though.
The egg was good, the bacon still fresh- but they only had so much time before their efforts to pool together and gather these rare treats would go to waste. It was remarkable, seeing Saber take charge of the situation and showing authority that he couldn't help but admire. Ultimately, there was no time like the present to get started on what would be the beginnings of cold storage. It was going to put Shirou to the test if he had any plans of reinforcing the makeshift walls and whatever else they had planned in order to create something that could properly keep these items from perishing so easily.
There was also a matter of splitting up the supplies... There was enough here for a considerate amount of people though. He and whomever wanted to help could handle it.

Late Morning - Building the Storage Room (Open to all!)
Shirou wiped his brow as he lifted his shirt to wipe away the sweat and dirt from his face. After spending the last half hour pulling up pebbles the size of bricks or more from the bottom of the tree to the spot he intended to make the storage room, he knew that it'd be difficult without hammers or nails. If he had a screwdriver or a drill that'd be even better. But he'd figure something out eventually. Right now, with the collection of twigs and leaves and rocks he had, it was a matter of time until this storage space on the second floor would come to life.
Cooling the room to preserve the meat and egg for longer use would come afterwards, of course. Patting down his hands, he got to work as he started pulling stray pieces of bark and leaves across the ground foundation that would make up the floor. Just to get an idea of the layout. If he could dig, he would to give it some substance, but... One step at a time.
[OOC; Feel free to interact with one another on helping build it! Shirou'll be around to help too.]

She just couldn't decide if it was a good or a bad nostalgic considering it made her think about the Human Village. And what she left behind there.
no subject
She carried a certain air to her, and while she looked like any normal girl on the surface...
"Hi there." He knew what this world was like. People came from all over, from different plains of existence. The act of second magic here was astounding, so he wouldn't be able to tell just by looking at someone if they were from his world or not. But regardless, he offers a friendly wave regardless as she seems to watch. He won't ask her to help him, but she seemed content with just watching them.

Marisa wasn't volunteering to help him, true, but that didn't mean she wouldn't help. Her thoughts were less on what was actually being built than the act of building itself. She'd left that life devoid of magic a long time ago, and though some things were better done without magic, building wasn't one she thought much about. And now that she was, she wasn't sure which would be better: hand-built or magic-built.
"You're doing a good job, ze."
no subject
"Oh... Ah," he scratched the back of his head as he approached the girl before patting his hands. "Thank you. It's still a work in progress, but hopefully we should have a place we can keep food in cold storage longer."
His smile was hopeful and appreciative of her encouraging words.
no subject
"You decide how you're gonna keep everything cold? Yeah, there are ways to keep it cooler than the ambient air temperature outside, but that doesn't really help with keeping food from going bad."
no subject
no subject
But then she focused her golden eyes on him, giving him a look that almost seemed to go through him, like she was looking at things no one else could see...
"Tell me what idea you're going to try to keep it cool. I wanna know if it's anything like my idea."
no subject
Truths but only half of them."Well... It's something to do with magic. Like some kind of spell that can freeze an area and keep it that way. Hopefully it works."
no subject
"And who's casting it - you?" She then shook her head. "No, not you. Not you..."
1/2
Whoops. Not that Shirou Emiya was allowed to do such a thing in the first place, but,
2/2
Shirou was busted.
no subject
"So... Riona? Rin? Who is it?"
no subject
"Y-You know Tohsaka?!"
no subject
Yet, despite that fact, Marisa didn't seem remotely bothered that someone tried to blow her up. It was almost like she was used to it or something. But at least Shirou's reaction let her know it was indeed Rin that was going to help with this little icebox. It also meant Marisa would just let Rin do it so she could see the kind of work the mage did.
no subject
"Sorry about that," he apologized like it was natural of him. Even if it wasn't even his doing. "That bounded field is a simple but effective one."
no subject
Marisa looked back over. "Why are you apologizing for her, anyways? I can break the damn thing down if I wanted; it ain't that hard."
no subject
"I just didn't want anyone getting hurt, that's all. If you're okay, I guess it's alright; but please don't break it down."
A couple of minutes. He only knew this girl for a couple of minutes and he was making sure that she was alright.
no subject
Or steal magic. "Tea without sugar just sucks. Hey, what's your name, anyways?"
no subject
"Oh, I'm Shirou Emiya. Nice to meet you and sorry for trying to deceive you earlier. You are?"
no subject
"Marisa Kirisame," she supplied with a wink.
no subject
A beat.
"So, Kirisame-san... I'm guessing you got here around the same time that we did?"
no subject
She grinned. "Because I can."
no subject
"Ah, you're a magus too." His tone didn't imply any disdain, more of an observation.
Mid Afternoon - Food Partitions (Open to all!)
Again, Shirou would figure it out in due time. The egg remained neatly upright beside him as it was out of the way of the construction of the storage room, but the long strip of bacon was neatly placed out over a clean table that he made once reinforcing a piece of bark and changing its shape to something more suitable so that it wouldn't get so dirty. All that was left now was to divide it up amongst those that needed them.
Nothing special, but in his hands he projected a clean, and perhaps slightly larger than usual butcher's knife.
[OOC; Again! Open for mingling and interactions. If you want a portion of the bacon or the egg or so, by all means! The rest that's left over is gonna be placed into storage once the room is finished being built.]

"Shirou…" she said as she opened the door more and set a foot inside. "Do you need my assistance, Master?"
She could cut things up. If she did it with people, an egg should not be too difficult.
no subject
"Mm?" Just as he was about to get started with cutting up the bacon, he heard the voice of the blonde Servant peer into the storage room now that the basis of it had been built up. All that was left now was to bring back Tohsaka later so that they could properly cool the area. Luckily for them, they still had time and the food wouldn't go bad so abruptly. Chancing a glance over his shoulder, he offers her a welcoming smile. "Good afternoon, Saber." She was keeping busy here, though they didn't even belong to this world. It was remarkable to see just how much of a hard worker she was when she wasn't conserving her energy for a battle. He could only hope to keep up with her and not slow her down. It was why he was hard at work between the storage room and helping with the food that they earned from the shop. There was more than enough here to help plenty of people who wanted some, including them. But speaking of food...
"I should be good for now, but..." Shirou approaches her as he chances a glance back to the bacon. "What part of the bacon do you think looks the best? I'll let you pick any piece that you want and that can be our part until the rest goes into storage."
Unfortunately, 'everything' wasn't a valid answer. But he knew how important it was to get the finest ingredients. Even if he decided in the end, when it came to food, it wouldn't have hurt to get her opinion considering how much she loved what he could make.
no subject
In the end, she had just protected her ideals.
She gazed at Shirou, firstly worried he was not pushing himself, secondly because the food he was handling was of her best interests, not just for her meal, but also for everyone else… She entered the storage and walked toward him with the same solemnity people do when they visited a sacred temple and pray to the shrine of deities. "Good afternoon," she greeted him as she approached until it was he who drew closer, she stopped then and waited for him. Maybe he did not trust her near this amount of food. It was ridiculous, she preferred quality over quantity.
"Ah? Which one looks the best?” she asked, taken aback and then shot a puzzled look at the bacon. "I have never eaten bacon, I do not have a basis to judge which one would be better." She tipped her head and decided to take the wisest choice. "The most suitable portion is the one Shirou believes is the best."
She assented, confident he would choose wisely.
no subject
When Saber answered that his choice would be the best one, he couldn't help but faintly laugh as if he was expecting her to say that. "That makes sense... We never did something like bacon and eggs for breakfast in the morning." Shirou typically went the extra mile and beyond when he did breakfast alongside Sakura. The thought made him smile; even if he didn't have access to as many ingredients as before, perhaps it'd be a welcome change of pace to mix up the palate. "I bet you'll like it though when we have it! It's very basic, but you can make it crispy or soft or inbetween."
no subject
“Hm, I do not know if we can make it crispy, even with the help of the fireflies,” she spoke, feeling deprived of the flavors her Master could managed not only by the lack of ingredients but also by the lack of cooking options.
If Kit were a dog, this would be where the Beggin' Strips reference would go. X3
She arrived just in time to witness something that served as quite an effective distraction, though. Namely, a knife appearing out of thin air, apparently intended for use in cutting the meat. "Wow, that was cool!", Kit exclaimed, fluttering over to get a closer look just a little quicker than walking would have allowed. "How'd you do that?"
no subject
Though in his defense, he thought he was alone. Though he intended to become a proper magus under Rin's tutelage, Shirou wasn't exactly a conventional one when you paired him up with someone like her. Needless to say, he'd been founded out and he can only nervously smile before rubbing the back of his head.
Whoever this girl was, she certainly wasn't human. She had the shape of one, but Kit's nose and tail were a certain giveaway of that.
"Hello. Uhm..." He may as well have tried. "Do what?"
no subject
Not that either of them were really worried about that just now. "That," Kit says, indicating the knife. "How'd you make it appear out of thin air like that? I've seen street performers pretend to be able to do that, but actually doing it would take real magic. I've just never seen magic that could do that before."
no subject
"Oh that." Very smooth, Shirou. "It's called Projection. It's kind of like you said. I just make it appear out of thin air using magic." That was only skimming the surface, to be frank. But he wasn't sure if he had to go into detail with somebody he didn't know knew a lot about it or not.
no subject
"Can you make anything you want appear?", Kit asked, curious. "Like could you make a whole house, or a boat, or a bushel of candy fruit? Or just little stuff you can hold in you hand?" Granted they really had no use for a boat around the tree, but it was one of the first large objects that came to mind.
no subject
Once Kit asked about the limits of his magecraft, he couldn't help but smile amused at her. It wasn't a silly question to ask, to be honest. He was the one who phrased it the way that he did. If she knew about anything that was supernatural in nature (her being clearly not human to his eyes was a giveaway that things perhaps weren't worth keeping under lock and key), Shirou didn't see any further harm. He wouldn't flaunt what he had, however. It was never his style of doing things.
"Sorry to disappoint, but all I'm good at is making things like swords. And even so, it'd probably take a lot of work to make a house or something." Was it even possible to do that? Surely it wasn't his own craft, but now he was probably going to ask a really stupid question to Rin later on, that he would either be laughed out of the house for or teased and forced to stay.
no subject
But that wasn't why she'd come here. "Anyways," Kit said, getting back down to business, "I'm guessing you were getting ready to cut up this meat to share with everybody right?"
no subject
"As much as I could, to be honest. We had to pitch in a lot to get the egg and bacon together. I don't think there'll be enough for everyone, but whatever's left can be stored up." A beat. "Would you like some? It should still fry easily enough."
no subject
"And since I don't think anybody wants just fat, I bet you could cook it down some and use it to flavor other things, like soup and stuff," Kit said, indicating the stripe of fat roughly in the center of the bacon. "That way you'd be able to get more use out of it and it wouldn't go to waste." Because you really shouldn't waste food. Especially tasty food.
